I thought it started off really strong, but started to drag a bit towards the end. I know it is pretty standard practice for movies to have more commercials breaks as the movie goes on, but they hurt the flow of the movie. Hope it gets a DVD release at some point with deleted scenes, commentary track, etc...
Weird was a fun movie. My wife went into it blind and asked if this or that really happened. No, of course not. I enjoyed it, watched it on my TV that has a Roku app that I have never used before. We both enjoyed it and appreciated it for being a lighthearted, fun movie.
It was alright. Found it funny and entertaining at first, but then the gag gets kind of tired for a feature length film. But I love Weird Al and Radcliffe was great, so well worth the watch. But while I expect to see UHF at least another couple dozen times in my remaining life, I don't expect to be watching the Weird Al story again.
I'm a big fan of UHF and while I don't think this was as good as that it was still quite enjoyable and funny. Almost a bit too ridiculous towards the end but hey, that's Al. I would be interested in an actual documentary on his career as well.
They’ve released it, for free, for everyone. Or would you it be on some cable channel, forcing people to subscribe?
I lost it over that backup dancer scene when they did the Like a Surgeon number. Its been quite awhile since we had a good totally over the top comedy.
People have tried to help this forum member who couldn't stream. Then people said, hey I can't help you anymore, and walked away. Now this forum member is deliberately posting antagonistic things to try to get attention and a rise out of people.
B+ Very enjoyable and some really good gags. It's everything a Weird Al "biopic" should be. While there may or may not be enough of a story of the real Weird Al's life to justify a biopic, the film thankfully renders that irrelevant, by being an original comedy film instead. Parodying musical biopics has already been done and although I think that Walk Hard is better than this one, I think this is still very worthy.
It does appear the movie would be much more enjoyable with a crowd. Not sure why this movie and Prey are not shown in theaters when they both have one of the best approval from both critics and audience approval this year.
I had this documentary on VHS in the mid-80s. Only covers that part of his career of course. Oh, and it too is mostly fake. A parody of documentaries. Very, very funny. The Compleat Al (Video 1985) - IMDb
I nearly forgot about this!I saw it on VHS as well back in the day. I will have to revisit but yeah a true doc of his career would be nice.
I was able to download the Roku app to my iPad, and watched the movie that way. I could mirror the iPad to my television with my Apple TV, in theory, though I haven't tried it with the Roku app yet. Yes, the Roku app cannot be downloaded to Apple TV.
