I'm priced out of this one based on the content. I'll stream until it drops to something reasonable, and if not oh well. I want it though. There is a box set coming out Friday w/ 6CD's of extra material for under $50, so that will keep me occupied for a bit!
Congrats! Amazon still lists my $70 set as a 12/14 arrival. I planned to call again to push for a quicker delivery - it really does bug me that if I ordered RIGHT NOW I'd get it Friday, but my preorder won't come for 3 weeks - but I decided not to bother. 3 weeks won't kill me, and the process of "protest" I pursued previously - dig the alliteration! - wasn't all that productive, so I'm not confident a 2nd try will go better. Also the fear that if I upset the apple cart they'll claim my $70 price was in error and cancel it! Still half-hoping the shipment date gets moved up, but not counting on it...
It may show up on release day regardless. I had a preorder unexpectedly shift to a later date recently, but ended up getting here on release day anyway.
Yes, sorry. I didn't want to hijack the thread. Obviously they are not as popular or long lived as Bowie, but other artists have also been putting out some large collections at lower prices. But, man, now I've seen the Flips box for like $40! That's crazy for the amount of stuff included.
My box came nice and sharpish from Burning Shed earlier today. Looking forward to getting stuck into it!
It might just be the picture, but the back border suggests a lift top lid, and I was under the impression it’s a book/folio format inside a sleeve - not unlike Conversation Piece.
Looks like what you're seeing is the outer wraparound sitting a bit lower than intended with the top of the book peeking out, not a flip open tab.
Looking forward to this arriving , but still miffed they didn’t do Width of a Circle to the same spec, they could have put the Metrobolist cd inside , cobbled a blu Ray together and made it a nice big 4 disc set to go along side Conversation Piece and the new one
I'm sure someone here will know better than me, but in this article they state "Amsterdam" was almost the final track on Hunky Dory. I remember reading somewhere it was almost the final track for Ziggy Stardust until he came up with on "Rock and Roll Suicide" (with some lyrical assist from Angela on the ending)?
