The article rings true for me. I only recently started watching Andor, and nearly didn't bother at all, having been disappointed by the sub-par Kenobi and Boba Fett shows. I'm glad I did. It's much better than either of those and deserves a bigger audience.
I can certainly agree. There are way too many shows and disappointments, though to be fair those started before Disney took over. One thing that did though was lower expectations, but almost so much that I didn't bother watching. But I'm glad I did. With 11 episodes down and 1 to go in season 1, this is my favorite Star Wars since the original trilogy. Only The Mandalorian comes close, and that's a much different style.
I agree, even though I love Mandalorian and enjoyed Kenobi (it should have been a feature film as they originally planned). Book of Boba Fett was a total dud. Andor is up there with Empire as far as I’m concerned. They let a real writer/director play in the universe and set their own path and it’s amazing, just like when George Lucas handed the reins to others for Empire. Too bad he (and Disney) never stuck with that approach with the Prequels and Sequels.
Man, the last episode was a bit of bore for a penultimate episode, was it not? What are they building toward? I don’t really see the pending big drama. I hope the last episode is a blast, maybe with a bit extended running time.
I’m kinda with you there. The buildup episodes preceding the imperial raid episode and the prison break episode did that much better for me.
I've never been bored by anything in this show, not once. Even the episodes with no action at all I've found more thrilling than a lot of the lazily staged action scenes in Boba Fett and Kenobi. I did mostly enjoy the above two shows but Andor is on another level for me. I don't want each new show moving forward to be same as Andor but I do hope that it sets the standard for the level of writing and production values to come. Really looking forward to next week's finale and then onto the next season of The Mandolorian in February.
Andor has been a great ride, I hope they do another season. Refreshing to get actual writing from Disney Star Wars factory for a change.
Chiming in that the prison break was the emotional high of the season they were building too. So far. Curious they left two episodes to go. Surely the writers recognize this and have something big planned for the finale. Something big will go down on that home planet is this Wednesday.
The second and final season begins filming this Monday and is expected to end filming next August with approximately a year of post production after that. Unfortunately this means that we won't be seeing it until approximately August '24.
A great final episode to what's been an excellent first season. Did everyone catch the end credit sequence?
Absolutely! You're the only person so far that I've seen react negatively towards it. All the reviews I've seen have been universal in their acclaim for it. So what didn't you like about it?
I'm with this writer: "something short of triumphant." We Love ‘Andor’ More Than Anything It Could Ever Do Wrong The last two episodes fumbled the season a bit, didn't quite achieve greatness.
The finale was great ! How can you not like that ? Meero is so gonna play w his lightsaber for saving her Season 2 should be a blast Andor gets an A from me
They bring Andor back to Ferrix, the Empire lays a trap...and they never interact. Imagine Empire Strikes Back if Luke went to Cloud City, skulked around a bit, dodged Vader and flew away...
i thought the last two episodes were fine. not spectacular, but as part of a whole they did their job. the post-credits scene seemed very clearly forced by disney execs and didn't actually add anything to the show i just spent two months with. in fact, i felt like it kind of cheapened the whole prison arc.
