Other than the target buy two get one free sale on vinyl there really are no worthwhile record sales this year
In this economy that's no surprise. If you can even afford entertainment while continuing to eat and pay bills, you're Blessed. I'll be saving around $20.00 when I place my order here.
Will likely be similar, as Music Direct is offering a similar 10% off. I haven't checked yet to see if it includes their SACD's.
Growl. I just noticed that the sale does not include APO. No AS business from me for BF. Their lousy 10% doesn't even pay my state's sales tax.
Order's in, saved $17.50 + state sales tax ( 85% covered by discount ) on the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Fillmore 6 album box and Jethro Tull's Stand Up which didn't qualify for a discount as it's an AP item, but I already knew that since the product page was set up ( No Additional Discount... ).
What are the odds that Chad reissues the Bill Evans Riverside records individually on 33? any chance? otherwise, they've got two of the OJCs for a decent price, and it seems like this sale is the time to pick them up, given that no other retailer has them (that i can find). I'm an Evans noob.
Some people are finding issues with the recent repress of the Evans set, as reported on Discogs. Example: " ... the second LP of Explorations also had a large scratch that was audible for 26 revolutions. " Those audiophile guys are tough. They truly spend more time returning things then enjoying things.
i think the best shot for all of us will be Craft doing a Riverside series and we at least get the heavy hitters from that box on 33. Whether or not chad will be involved is another question, would be nice to have a Riverside series like the VASS or Contemporary series. Next year is Riversides 70th, I suspect something HAS to be coming
Hah! There's a youtube channel I occasionally watch (although I don't know for how much longer). The guy bought a dB meter on amazon to compare his 33 and 45 Kind of Blue UHQRs. He proceeded to sit thru So What eight times and "take notes" on the ups and downs of the meter, and finally came to the conclusion that the 45 is 2dB louder
For what they charge, the customer deserves perfection. That's why my internet music business did not do audiophile vinyl: lack of quality control.
Wonder why these stores have stopped offering significant discounts. They used to have at least a couple 20% off sales per year. Now, 10% is the best they will do.
because of the vinyl boom during the pandemic, they didnt need to give out sales to move product. Once recession hits harder and people start buying less i bet we see 10% still but being able to apply it to AP, Mofi, etc
AS and MD, in the scheme of things, are small privately held businesses that are facing their own cost pressures in terms of licensing, manufacturing etc. We don’t have to like it necessarily, but I get it. It’s also the reason why I try to purchase from them, Bull Moose, and Newbury Comics when the prices are comparable. It takes something like the current buy two get one free promotions for me to look to the behemoths first. Those deals, often on already discounted items, are too good to pass up.
