Got 6 in exactly the same way. No padding or album mailers. One had 2 crushed corners and is going back. Rest were ok. First time I've bought from Target and may be my last.

Yet somehow it’s even better than the Amazon b2g1 sale’s search.

I’m glad target has UPCs listed at least!

I’ve noticed it just depends on your location/what warehouse it ships from. I’ve gotten WAY too many records from Target and only gotten one that was damaged because it was just shipped in a plastic bag. But everything else has come in proper mailers or had padding. Box sets even came with foam box protectors surrounding the box sets on all sides.

I know now that I said it, mine will all come damaged this sale…

Got my blondie box yesterdy and they shipped it in the Debbie standup box, so that was great news. And wow what a box, havent had a chance to listen yet as all records need a good cleaning (ugh paper inners) but they appear flat. The jackets are all tip ons, 2 hardcover books, and an awesome foil box holding it all. Highly recommended from a packaging perspective and ive read the sound is great as well

Would take advantage of the sale to get some CD SDEs but beyond "Revolver" and "Use Your Illusion", I can't find a third that I want!

I would go with Bowie's "Divine Symmetry" but I got one of the super-discount copies from Amazon - 3 for 2 would make me pay MORE for it.

There's a variation on the "Buy 3, then cancel 2" trick, called the "Buy 3, then cancel 1" trick. It's used less often but works just as well.

Also, remember that books (Books, people! Great XMAS gifts!) and DVD/Blu-rays are part of the sale too and can be combined with everything else.

Any EC Comics fans in the house? This book is MASSIVE, costs $166 before the 3-for-2 discount (discounted from $200), and is worth every penny, IMO.
The History Of Ec Comics - By Grant Geissman (hardcover) : Target

Anton Corbijn's book of photographs of Depeche Mode is another big Taschen title. It weighs over 8 pounds, originally priced at $150, discounted to $91 before the 3-for-2.
Depeche Mode By Anton Corbijn - By Reuel Golden (hardcover) : Target

I own both volumes of the Graphic Design books that Taschen put out. These are big books, (not MASSIVE, but big), and a tremendous value if 3-for-2, IMO.
The History Of Graphic Design. Vol. 1. 1890-1959 - By Jens Müller (hardcover) : Target
The History Of Graphic Design. Vol. 2. 1960-today - By Jens Müller (hardcover) : Target

If memory serves, this has happened in the past and I THINK that some of those titles added mid-week MIGHT have switched over by the end of the sale. Keep an eye on them just in case. Night Train is on my want list so I sure will be.

Just picked up Karma too. Good call. Also, you are going to like those Motown Mono LPs. I've played those a lot!

[Cross-posted from Black Friday deals thread, where we were discussing Walmart purchases- zero for me- vs Target, where I went pretty big.]

I returned to vinyl around 2007, after a 20-year hiatus and have built up a pretty solid collection. So, my classic rock, mainstream jazz, etc purchases are minimal at this point.

I mostly buy selected reissues, African, and relatively obscure stuff that is new to me. Some of the following list is probably outside the wheelhouse or acquired taste for most. To tell you the truth, I did not cross-reference any of these at Walmart before ordering at Target. That may have been worthwhile; I assumed they wouldn't have many of these and if they did, wouldn't be marked down. The point is moot now, of course..

As mentioned above, I'm not gonna play games with the promotion. Disagree with trying to cheat the system.

Books, movies, music - there's just nothing else they have to offer in the same price range that I want! :help:

a ton of other things are now "in stock" on target.com but hardly any of them apply toward the promo, including this one. i wonder if that'll change come tomorrow. a handful of mofi releases and other elusive box sets.
