What are you using for an affordable record brush ? Tried the new revision of the Hunt ETA and thought it was pretty crappy tbh, although the older one I had in the past seemed fine.
That's too bad about the Hunt ETA. I bought one around 10 years ago and it's still going strong. The Audioquest brush is a good affordable option. I have a couple and they work fine for me.
For carbon fiber I use the Boundless. For velvet for washing records, I use two Click Cleans. One saturated with alcohol and vinegar (just about six or seven percent vinegar) and the other to dry the record.
Sleeve City Thunderon. No looking back. I use it to wipe my stylus off in-between sides as well so it acts as both a record and stylus brush.
Yeah, I’m curious what the line is on “affordable” here. I was using an AudioQuest carbon fiber brush, but not long ago I got a grounded carbon fiber brush from turntableneedles.com, which I think was like $17 (just looked, it’s currently $19, it’s possible that’s what I paid, too)? The grounded brush is actually effective at draining static, unlike the it-grounds-through-you design of the AQ.
I never understood why audiophiles generally looked-down upon Diskwasher brushes back in the 80s and 90s. I always thought that they worked far better than the carbon fiber brushes.
I just bought one of these. I think it's a great record brush. It took a couple of weeks to get here, but it's better than all the others I have bought. ursa major große neue Kohlefaserbürste -Geschenk für Vinylfans -conductive brush -
Someone around here swears by the Ortofon brush. If I remember correctly, he's also the same guy that recommended the plasma lighter to cure your static problems. I have not personally uses the Ortofon brush but I have had great success using the plasma lighter.

AT 6012. It’s more of a pad than a brush, but I’ve found it works much better than a carbon fibre brush for removing dust from the surface of records. You can put a little fluid on it too, it’ll help lift the dust and then evaporate in a few moments.
Maybe the Tm ran out ?, Music Hall released a cheap oem version that does not have Hunt printed on it. It's not like the original, sounds like it's scraping the record. How about $50 usd or below ? The Hart and Analog Relax are bit too much right now for me. The Sleeve City looks interesting, but I would rather brush on the platter without worrying about dropping the record. This one also looks good. Any more comments/users ?
I usually clean my records when I buy them. Then I just flick any dust off with the brush. I like that it's impossible to scratch the surface with the Thunderon. I used to use a standard carbon fiber brush but I felt I had to be too careful with it not to accidentally scratch the record. I rarely have issues with static though. If I do I use a Zerostat.
Take a look at the Turntable labs Triple Operation Vinyl Record Cleaning Brush. I have one of these and it's a really nice cleaning brush.
