Courtesy of a tip from @peeklay on the Target thread, Best Buy is currently having a vinyl sale on selected titles. Problem is, Best Buy isn't saying which selected titles are for sale -- you have to bring LPs up to their front counter/service desk and ask a salesperson to scan each individual title. The sale itself is basically a "secret sale" -- no announcement or advertising. Even Best Buy workers don't know it's happening.

Here's what I know (approximate cents)

The Who Sell Out - 2LP Deluxe Edition ($14.99)
Metallica - Kill 'em All and Ride The Lightning ($10 each). I'm guessing Master of Puppets is same price, if they have copies
    Fleetwood Mac - Rumours ($8.99)
    CCR - Chronicle ($10)
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced? ($5.99)
    Beatles 1, the 2-LP compilation set ($27.99)
Sly and the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On ($10.99)
Kiss - Kissworld ($10? Around that price)
Beatles Rubber Soul and Revolver, 2012 remasters ($10.99 each), assuming other 2012 single disc remasters are same price
Foo Fighters Greatest Hits ($8.99). There's also a Foo Fighters - Essential 2-LP set, but I don't know if that's on sale or not.

I know there are many other titles on discount, prices unknown, not including the ones peeklay specified in his original post.

(I purchased the Who Sell Out, Are You Experienced, both Beatles remasters, Sly, and Foo Fighters.)

Here's what I know is definitely not on sale (after salesperson checked prices): Nirvana - In Utero, Guns 'n Roses - Use Your Illusion I and II, The Clash - Combat Rock special edition, Primus - some live album, Kiss - Destroyer special ed

I assume Rumours is one of the not-so-great Canada or Optimal pressings?

I haven't opened mine yet, but it appears to be this version--which I heard a few years ago and enjoyed: Metallica - Ride The Lightning

That said, you'll see a recent review of this version in the discog comments that calls into question its quality (or at least calls into question whether it's still a Bellman version).

I like but don't love Metallica, so for me, I would guess this pressing will do just fine. Your milage may vary, as they say!

    Good idea starting this @shnaggletooth

I went to another BB to see what they had and only found the RHCP Love Unlimited (?) Marked down. I believe it was $12.99 for a 2lp and relatively new release. Good price but I'm not a huge fan.

It's pretty annoying that you have to take to register or find someone with a scanner but I guess a good deal is worth the effort

Big thanks to OP for pointing this sale out. Went to my local store and bought these:
    - Experience Hendrix best of - $8.49
    - Tom Petty Greatest Hits - $10.99
    - Rubber Soul - $9.49
    - CCR Chronicle - $9.49

I also tried the first 2 White Stripes albums but they rang up full price.

Between this, Target and Walmart, I'm wondering if it's against forum rules to start a "trade my new clearance records for yours" thread? :D

Thanks to @peeklay for the heads-up on this,
These are all on Clearance according to the receipt (so not a "sale", and maybe it lasts until gone or possibly further marked down?),
and it's very odd and random as to what is price dropped, and what is not.

Like others have said, the prices do not show up online, through their App checking barcodes in-store, or even on the internal Best Buy App that employees use.
They have to be price-checked on a point-of-sale register. Employee wasn't thrilled, but the store was fairly dead, so helped me with price-checking at a dept register.

Here's what I bought (maybe someone can compile a Master List for the thread):

Beach Boys Sound of Summer 8.49
    Beatles Rubber Soul 9.49
    Dylan- Essential 10.99
Billie Eilish Happier Than Ever 11.99
    Fleetwood Mac Rumours 8.49
    Foo Fighters- Greatest Hits 8.49
    Hendrix Are You Experienced 5.99
Michael Jackson Thriller pic disc- 8.49
Lizzo Cuz I Love You 9.49
    Metallica Black Album 10.99
    Tom Petty Angel Dream 9.49
    Tom Petty Greatest Hits 13.99
    Prince Purple Rain 8.49
Prince Purple Rain pic disc 9.49
    Train Drops of Jupiter 7.49
    Twenty One Pilots Vessel 8.49
Twenty One Pilots Scaled and Icy 8.49
Roger Waters Is This the Life... 13.99

    Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run (180 gram) - $8.49 (reg $22.99)
    Alice Cooper - Detroit Stories (2 LP) - $9.49 (reg $25.99)

Beatles- Let it be (Canada) (2021)9.49 (26.99)

Both for $9.49. Unfortunately, the store closes at 8, so I couldn’t check others. But I plan on hitting two or more today.

If you’re lucky enough to find a clerk as helpful as the one I found, they might pull up on their computer whatever is on sale at other nearby stores. I found that the Beatles LP, 1, was $18 at another store but not at the store I was in.

This clerk was stationed at a kiosk that had a cash register but was not the main checkout area. She did not hesitate to scan the 15 or so LPs I brought up. Then she rang up my purchase.

Here’s hoping you have a good day, too.

EDIT: My copy of The Essential Bob Dylan has no sides C and D; it has two copies of the record with sides A and B. I was hoping only the labels were wrong. Oh, well. Maybe the other nearby store has a copy and will let me swap it.

FYI, as mentioned, Best Buy carries both Foo Fighters- Essential and Foo Fighters- Greatest Hits- both have the similar best-known songs.
Greatest Hits rang up Clearance (for me), my store did not have Essential, and maybe that one is not clearanced, as there are no posted reports of that one yet.

Good prices on some select titles but unfortunately... all of the Best Buy stores here have such a small amount of vinyl titles in store, I don't have the time to drive to all these BB stores to *maybe* find a discount.
BB should be offering these titles for discounted prices online or at least save the consumer the hassle of having to have records scanned for discounts. Wow.:shake:
That being said, I know my local BB still has a bunch of Bruce Springsteen titles in stock, so thank you to the OP from @shnaggletooth for posting about this "secret discount" here! ;)

Listening to Sly and the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On right now. If the tonearm is wobbling back and forth, that means the record was pressed "off-center", right? (Wobbling on side one, but not side two). It does play ok and sounds good, and it was only about $11, but just a heads up about this particular pressing (if you find it).

I went back to return the Dylan LP and that helpful clerk was still there, chatting with a couple of other clerks. Turns out that after I left the store with my initial purchase, she and the other clerks went record shopping themselves, not having known about all the discounts. As I was leaving after the return, she was scanning each record in the bins while another clerk, some distance away at a service counter, called out whatever price came up.
