Besides the Dead Lyceum set (miraculously), I've had lousy luck with warped records in boxsets, so I'm dreading the success rate of the Stones's mono box.
Ever think about getting a record flattener? I know you shouldn’t have to especially with current record prices, but might save some headaches
Kick a man while he's down, why don't you? 10,000. There is at least one YouTube video plus comments in the Mono box reissue thread here that indicate the records are flat and fault-free (so far).
I gave a little thought to ordering the Stones box, but I held off. I'm going to wait and see how many members here end up with defective records in the set and how long it will take to rectify the problems.
Outer Stones boxes were a little worse for wear, but the actual boxes themselves were all fine. Double boxing would have been nice. But all good in the end. Lots of cleaning and listening ahead!
Wasn’t asking to judge—I was just curious. Also I didn’t order one so if there was one up for grabs… no need to be defensive in any case.
Well, My Target 3 for 2 Stones mono box sets arrived yesterday. Outer and inner packaging all looked secure, but upon unpacking, 2 out of the three boxes had a seam split along a bottom left side edge clearly visible through the sealed box. Beyond bummer (especially because 1 box # is in the 00150’s. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? In addition, the email shipping receipt lists each box individually at the $414.99 price point. Does anyone know if I will be refunded $414.99 for a single box in-store return or a prorated amount? Has anyone here returned a box either brick and mortar or on line and have results to share? I can live with 1 split box out of 2 @ $414.99 for the pair. Rip that one open, get greasy fingerprint on the booklet, play and abuse the vinyl with immature reckless joy, etc.. Otherwise…. Mystical, practical, actual, psychological and metaphysical feedback highly appreciated.
Fair enough. Guess it's the nature of the forum. Lots of judgmental folks around these parts. My apologies. But no, they all have homes at the moment.
Absolutely, I get it. Enjoy the set in any case. Hopefully my FOMO fades quickly—I do own mono versions (mostly OG except for BB and LIB which are the recent reissues) of all of these already but for the price I was on the fence. I wound up devoting the funds elsewhere anyway. Now reading about everyone getting theirs set my trigger finger to tingling!
I thought that Beggars Banquet was a fold down except for ‘Sympathy For The Devil,’ and Let It Bleed was a fold down as well. You may not be missing much.
Yes, it'll be refunded at $414, based on someone else's experience in the main Rolling Stones box set thread.
Yep, the bottom corner of mine was split too. It really should have been double boxed with air padding, considering the MSRP. If it was a $25 album I’d just keep it, but a $400 box set is getting returned/replaced. The foam worked great against dents & dings, but it’s not really effective against impact damage.
A new twist in the buy 2 get one free game. Wow. Essentially if you returned two, you would pay around $100 for the third.
