The ending was utter bs and because of that, it was the last tv show I will ever invest more than a passing interest in.
I completed season 1 in a week. So far so good. That suitcase episode almost had me throwing in the towel, but overall I enjoyed the program. Moving on to season 2.
I thought that Lost was amazing the first few seasons, but like all great shows, they can’t figure out how to tie things up. But, as far as a show slowly building a backstory on its characters and how that changes the dynamics of their interactions and then to unveil connections between certain characters prior to ending up in the island, Lost was must see TV for me back in the day due to all the left turns, it kept me coming back for sure. I have rewatched the show a few times as well so the allure wears off if you know the surprises, but this show is a classic.
If there are any "Lost" fans here in California who collect props.... my daughter was going to throw this out which I painstakingly acquired and had beautifully mounted. I would keep it, but I'm moving, which is why I'm selling it. I also thought "Lost" fans might find this prop oil can (on a nice heavy wooden base and heavy plexi box. Lol) cooler than my daughter who planned on jettisoning it! LOL Rare beautifully displayed ORIG “Lost” Dharma oil can ABC auction | eBay here's pic (including my fat leg! LOL I loved putting together this prop for my dsughter and I didn't even watch "Lost!"
I'm already in Season 6. I've watched the entire series in a month and a half, late at night in bed and in the car killing time. I really enjoyed the ride. I can't imagine having to be in suspense for six years waiting for this story to resolve (IF it resolves).
It was only in suspense at the end of season one when they finally broke into the hatch. I think the show suffered from too many cooks, too many ideas, and the show changing too much after every season. Even with that, it's still one of my favorite shows.
Finished the show last night. Really enjoyed the ride, wish I had given the show a chance sooner or watched it unfold in real time. I was probably too busy with other things during those years to commit anyway. Regardless of how it ended, I was on the edge of my seat for 120 episodes, and that's quite a feat. I'll miss John Locke. Or I could get right back on the horse and watch it again.
Don’t think folks attention span to streaming will favour LOsT. “ I’ll watch it when I wanna watch it “ sorta thing. Can’t beat thee old dvd binge watch.
Watch again „? I’ve got the blu ray and the big dvd box with game. Locke and Desmond were my two favourite characters.
Yeah, when I realized I was really digging the show I wasted no time and snatched up the blu-rays off eBay on the cheap before Disney says I can only stream the show via "Disney double plus good". Locke is my favorite character by far. After Ben did what he did I wanted him to die in the worst possible manner. And I was totally horrified when Dez Spoiler: SPOILER hit him with the car of course this was before we knew what was really going on. I liked Hurley and Dez too. When Hurley drove that van into the camp and saved the day I nearly cheered out loud. Sayid was a cool guy too. At least until he Spoiler: SPOILER went on the killing spree at the temple.
I like most of the characters including Sayid. Jack Shephard‘s Thailand adventure was amusing, least the tattoo… what an intense character.
I'm mid-way through my first rewatch of the series. I lasted about a year before I decided "I have to go back". Great to see everyone again. Different experience this time now that I know where we're going. I must admit, I've fast forwarded a bit through some of the lesser flashbacks (mostly Charlie's, sorry mate). I still love Locke, although now I recognize his flaws.
I called it the most overrated series in the history of television before the first season was over. None if the actions of the characters ever made any sense to me. At least not if you want to stay alive. Anyone with any survival training would laugh their way thru it. Can't imagine watching it again. "Gilligan's Island reimagined as a soap opera" is what I called it when it aired.
Terry O'Quinn ("John Locke") was absolutely fantastic -- he was great in every single take, never a false note, and I saw a lot of unused shots and stuff not in the final shows. I was sad for him that he didn't have a more successful career in the years after Lost, because he was the best guy in the show. Michael Emmerson ("Ben Linus") did extremely well, but surprisingly, he was initially only hired for 5 or 6 episodes. He was so good, he wound up staying for the entire series as the ongoing villain. Both were really well-liked; there were a few people who were difficult on the show, but the producers got rid of them pretty early on. I think one of the points of the premise was that all the characters on the plane were ordinary people who had absolutely no idea how to survive in the middle of nowhere after a catastrophic crash. They made it clear that nobody had any military or survival training... except for Sayid, a "communications officer" (torture specialist) in Iraq's Special Republican Guard. And it took a long time before Sayid revealed who he was and what his special skills were. Gilligan's Island show creator Sherwood Schwartz said back in the 1970s that he had been inspired to do the series after seeing the classic 1932 movie Grand Hotel, which plunges a wide variety of people (rich, poor, educated, common-class, aristocrats, servants) all in the same place at the same time, all forced to work together to stay alive. Schwartz originally tried to do it in a hotel, but eventually realized it was better if they were all shipwrecked on an island. You can definitely say that Lost is kind of a weird, sci-fi/drama version of Gilligan's Island, only without the laughs.
Just finished my first Lost re-watch and my second viewing since first embarking on this journey last Halloween '22. Naturally, I'm all kinds of emotionally rattled at the moment. How long before I dive in and watch it again? Who knows. I'd like to take my wife with me next time but she is resisting.
The whole underground thing with a button having to be pressed every 100 something minutes had me laughing pretty hard though.
