interesting to see 'buddy's back' on here, that is the song allan clarke chose to release form his new album with nash.
Of all the face shots they probably took for that album cover, that’s the one they decided to use?? He looks like confused grandad at the self check-out. Great hair, tho’.
“I Watched It All Come Down” is from the seventies, a contender for almost every Nash-related project since the CSN album in 1977
Graham can be clearly heard on Clarke's version of Buddy's Back. I wonder if they'll switch roles for Nash's new album. Cute song. I actually think the artwork for the new album looks elegant.
I'll be the first to admit that I might be thinking too hard here, particularly since it's not an especially unique presentation on either sleeve, but does anyone else see an echo of the last David Crosby album in the cover? One's a painting and one's a photo, but the composition, general color scheme, pose, font on the Nash immediately made me think of the Crosby record.
Think he spoke about it around 2021, prior to his last live album, and mentioned it was complete back then. Then all talk disappeared and moved to the Allan Clarke collaboration. I hope Nash does a better version of it. Its not the most inspiring or exciting song. Is it. Its a bit like the singer in the pub has done a tribute to Buddy Holly. I feel conflicted about Nash these days.....any interview the past few years, and he has come across as a bit of a tosser...a lot of defiant anger.....but I do like that song. The lyrics are phenomenally clumsy as we expect from Nash. but it has that "feel" of classic Nash. The "Cover" image on the thumbnail is very much in the style that it should be from This Path Tonight rather than associated to the new album and artwork.
weren't there 2-3 new songs nash performed live about 10 years ago that didn't make his last album and don't appear to be on this one either?
I think the single is fairly average. I liked his last album a lot. I found this new song a bit tired lyrically.
Pub singer? What a thing to be able to say about Allan Clarke. He doesn't sound much the same anymore....
LOL. I didn't mean the actual singing or performance...I actually meant the quality of song. Its just IMO its a pretty poor song done in the BH style that we've heard so often and lacks any form of originality.
When they do things differently we complain it’s not like the old days, when it is, we complain it isn’t fresh or adventurous
Glad he's alive and healthy, but that's literally all the song is about. Like the guitar though, especially the backwards solo at the end.
It’s warming to think Graham and Allan are pals that hang out with their guitars sometimes like in the picture in the video. Nash sounds amazing. But without Clarke stretching out, they don’t have the Hollies sound so much.
“Right Now” immediately sounds a lot like Nash in the mid-seventies with David Lindley due to the electric lap steep. It’s not as good, based on one listen. Not bad though. Sometimes Nash songs don’t hit me right away.
There was “Burning for the Buddha”. There are a bunch of performances on YouTube. It’s pretty good song, and a co-write with James Raymond, similar to “Barrel Of Pain”. Crosby sounds great on it.
