Here's the first single that's released from the soundtrack to the film:

A bunch of pretty kids worrying about music and their sex lives. I should be so lucky. I'd only watch this out of pure incredulity or a desire for self-flagellation.

I am a big fan of Riley Keough. She is a terrific actress, especially when given good material and a great director. I highly recommend the very fine series that won her some high praise, The Girlfriend Experience. She plays a legal intern who is paying her way through that field by working at night as a high-end call girl. I will definitely be checking out Daisy Jones & the Six.

Well it probably helps if you're a Fleetwood Mac fan.

Well no one is asking you to watch it, so there’s that…

FWIW, this is based on a best-selling novel.

That sounds intriguing — where is the show available?

I read the novel and greatly enjoyed it. The two songs posted above aren't doing it for me. Aside from mimicking electric guitar solos, they don't sound like the 70s (and they need to). They sound like Arcade Fire doing a modern country song. That would strike me as the hardest part of this project: to create 70-sounding rock music that actually sounded like it could have been hit music of the time.

I'll reserve judgment on the acting and story until watching, but the music itself already has me worried that this may be another "let's film everything with yellowish and brown tint to represent the 70s" undertaking. I hope I'm wrong!

Interesting — personally I did get a 70’s vibe from the tunes.

It is one of my favorite shows to binge watch with my lady. The show was executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and it really well done. The plot at the law firm is almost as intriguing as Riley's adventures as a high end call girl. Riley has never been shy about being nude on film and there is a fair share of it here, so the show is not for the bashful. It also features some fairly explicit sex scenes, but this is a highly produced and directed series. Riley is only in the first season and that is a complete series by itself. Eight episodes, IIRC.

The Girlfriend Experience (Season One) is available to purchase or stream on Blu-ray or Amazon Prime. I've seen most of Riley's movies, but this is my favorite acting role she has ever done so far.

I thought the novel was fantastic and have been looking forward to this project for a while.

I’d rather a show about an actual band rather than an anachronistic view into the past. Don’t love the music I’ve heard. I may watch the pilot for giggles, but I doubt this is a show for me. It seems aimed at an audience who wasn’t around for the 70s.

Solid, but hardly ebullient, reviews. I find the songs off the mark, but love Keough and if the drama’s on point the music itself will likely be secondary.

I'm happy to see my "exclusive orange" vinyl copy of the soundtrack from Amazon is preparing to ship. Incidentally, BN also has this to pre-order in a different color variant.

64 at Metacritic so not bad but not exceptional. For me, Keough would be the reason to watch as the music isn’t doing it for me at all.
