It appears to be just your common 2-box pressing, even if "mint"

Isn't that an 80's pressing? Definitely not 67.

 

Can't really tell what it is from the pic, other than it's an EMI two box -- which I think were pressed from 1972 or 1973 through the early or mid 1980s.

Though it's not in the descrip, the cover, in the upper right, appears to have residue from a sticker, and damn if it doesn't look like the distinctive JEM records import sticker I remember from the 70s.

 

Definitely pressed after 1973. The original was yellow and black, changing to one box in '69. Nothing on the 'bay surprises me anymore.

 

I have some from the early 80s looks like the same label. Shouldnt be worth more than $20 imo.

 

How is the sound?

 

The very first "2-boxes" were essentially the same as the "1-boxes"-heavy vinyl, flaps inside the gatefold. Then due to the oil crisis or whatever in the mid-70s they were pressed in France on thin vinyl for a short while-after that all British pressings were thin vinyl.

 

My early 80's pressings are pretty awesome sounding.

 

The story on French pressing for the UK:
Actually what happened was that major refurbishment was being done at the Hayes, Middlesex pressing plant so a formal arrangement was made to press up discs in France for the UK market and package them in UK sleeves during 1972/3. You'll see these discs described as 'contract pressings'.

 

So, if one wanted a mint, awesome sounding version of SPLHCB, this one would fit the bill (assuming, of course, that it really is mint).

 

Agreed. My Beatles albums are 83 EMIs and they are superb.
