The Velvet Underground recording what is known as the 'lost' 4th MGM album at the Record Plant in May of 1969. I think the engineer was Gary Kellgren.

    Great thread!!!! :righton:

one of my favorites: Shawn Britton and Krieg Wunderlich (Mofi's chief engineer). I did the shot in 1994 or 1995 (can't remember exactly!)

Hansa Tonstudios in Berlin, where U2 recorded Achtung Baby! and Bowie recorded all of "heroes". This is the upper room, not the big ballroom on the 1st--3rd floors where Bowie recorded, as that now houses a dinner theatre.

If you look closely, you can see a big hole in Gene's acoustic above and behind the normal soundhole...

Wow, Claus - I owe you an apology--there really is a guy named Krieg Wunderlich! I am amazed. I thought you were pulling my leg.

"Houston, we are prepared for launch......"

Seeing as he's using a Gibson Les Paul that pic would have been taken after 1952. They used a lot of shots from that session in the Rollin' Stone - The Golden Anniversary Collection 1947-1952 booklet...

Awesome! I'd forgotten about that pic, love it! :righton:
