I have three old Thorens turntables and a Technics SL-1210MK5 (for old 45’s and 78’s.). These are scattered around the house and used as needed.

In my main listening room though I have honor to able to enjoy three great turntables (all loaners or gifts).

The Latest Audio Note UK turntable and cartridge, the VPI Avenger with two arms, monaural and stereophonic and the VPI Classic with custom dust cover.

    Playing records is neat!

What about you? Don’t be shy.

And yes I know there’s another thread. This is for me.

On the VPI Avenger, that's just one week of dust. Our housekeeper has orders to stay away from my turntables. Weekly dusting this afternoon. No dust cover big enough for that monster..

My only turntable. VPI Avenger with upgraded feet and upgraded reference Nordost wire throughout. I also use a SDS speed controller, a carbon fiber mat, a TT Weights center weight and periphery ring. Also a Symposium platform.

My setup is rather ordinary compared to what we've seen so far: just a simple Technics SL-1500C, with an AT VM540ML cartridge on an AT-HS10BK headshell replacing the stock Ortofon 2M Red and whatever the original headshell was.

Nothing fancy. Just my trusty Marantz 6200. Bought it off Craigslist from a local guy in upstate NY who had relocated to the US from Bosnia and was headed back home and couldn’t take it. It’s served me well for a dozen years. Sounds great and aside from swapping out the needle and checking the set up every so often I’ve only ever had to replace the belt.

With an 'only turntable' like that you really don't need much else!

  16. Since it came home, the other tables get limited use. All have their own Signature.

Technics SL-1610 MK I with a AT-VM95ML cartridge and FEMELI Record Weight

My first and only turntable. Heck of a Craigslist find. I always play my records with the cover down, but here's a few pics with the top up and off while in action.

Now THAT is what I call a turntable. Woah.

I'm waiting to move to a new place later in the year, and will treat myself to a TT (probably Denon, as I'm a Denon fanboy) when I can have more space for my set-up. I have an IoN turntable from about 10-15 years ago which would probably not get me any positive comments but I did dig it out last month from the cupboard just to see if (a) it still worked, and (b) how it sounded. It did still work perfectly, and I was pleasantly surprised how decent the sound was on good pressings (the early Hanover 2LP of Yello's Newmixinonego from 1986 especially).

    EG.

My brother bought and shipped this SL-1200MK5 from Japan for me. I made a few upgrades over the years (bought an OEM headshell, Hana SL cartridge, Herbie mat), but that's all I changed. It's been rock solid for me. Definitely a gift I continue to cherish!
