Something a little different. Playing around with some Van Dyke brown: Top right is from a 4x5 negative, the rest are from 8x10 transparencies. Probably mess around a bit more this summer. I just ordered more silver nitrate.
Andy, assuming you are referring to my picture sixteen post, that was taken at the Neptune Pool, Hearst Castle, San Simeon California. If picture sixteen is not the photograph you are referring to, give me a picture number, or a thread post number. I've been to Hearst Castle a few times, usually sunny since it's situated at an elevation of 1600 feet above the very close at hand Pacific. The day of my photograph was a mite more dreary...and much more to my liking. Taken on 35mm Fuji Velvia 50, using a Nikon FA and a Zoom-Nikkor 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5 AiS (manual focus) zoom.
Great idea for a thread. Have been taking photos for many years but I’ve belatedly realised I need to teach myself how to do it a bit better. I’m not confident enough to post in dedicated photography forums but this thread looks like fun. Will dig some out and post them later when I get a minute.
I'm trying to understand the lighting and scenario. At first I thought this was a night shot with artificial light of some sort. But is this an open spot between two tunnels with sun light in the opening?
1984, the Crosby (now AT&T) Pro-Am golf tourney at Pebble Beach, CA (USA). Bob Hope (I yelled out 'You're great Mr Hope!', startling the poor Marshall besides me) Jim Plunkett, Oakland Raiders QB, 3 weeks after winning the Super Bowl. ( I accidentally clicked my camera every time he went to shoot. I am sure he was not happy with me. As he walked by me to the next hole I said 'Congratulations' on the SB victory, he said 'thanks' but I bet he wanted to wrap the club around my neck.) Kathryn Crosby (Mrs. Bing, who had passed some years prior). Phil Harris was not around and I asked her where he was. 'I think he drank too much milk last night', she said. Funny.
Two more from the Crosby Pro-Am: James Garner and Leroy Neiman (artist), good old Rockford. A man deadly serious about his golf game. Ex president Gerald Ford. He was a smaller man than I expected, he always looked so big on TV.
Thought I'd post this since it's 13 years old (the photo)......this time next week I will get a recent photo...........It will look rather different. The worlds most famous power station I think.
