I remember it vaguely. It was mildly entertaining if memory serves. I remember her more on Opportunity Knocks.
Oh, I'll drink to that. Actually, Nicely Out Of Tune is one I couldn't overlook; all my favorites are on there, 'Lady Eleanor', 'Winter Song', 'We Can Swing Together' and 'Clear White Light'. It's a bit front-loaded, really.

With the caveat that quite a few of the UK songs are mysteries to me, my only keepers are: Gilbert O'Sullivan - Get Down 10cc - Rubber Bullets Roger Daltey - Giving It All Away The Sweet - Hellraiser Wizzard - See My Baby Jive From the States, I'd have: Jim Croce - Bad Bad Leroy Brown Gunhill Road - Back When My Hair Was Short Gilbert O'Sullivan - Out Of The Question The Doobie Brothers - Long Train Runnin' Loggins & Messina - Thinking Of You Steely Dan - Reelin' In The Years Focus - Hocus Pocus Dobie Gray - Drift Away The Sweet - Little Willy

Insofar as the UK bunch, among what I'd have or had were #8, 20, 27, 33, 38, 46, and 48. Incidentally . . . this week was the first issue of Music Week as Music Week to be included in the World Radio History database, hence the significance of this date.
Not 'Drive-In Saturday' or 'Stuck In The Middle With You'? Would also recommend the Alice Cooper, Nazareth and Medicine Head singles.
These are the UK one I own & love: Cat Stevens - Teaser & The Firecat Gilbert O'Sullivan - Himself Focus - Making Waves Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water The Faces - Ooh La La Roger Daltrey - Daltrey And from the US: Focus - 3 & Making Waves Manassas - Down The Road Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives Of Henry VIII The Byrds - S/T Donovan - Cosmic Wheels The Faces - Ooh La La The Doobie Brothers - The Captain & Me Seals & Crofts - Diamond Girl
Stuck In The Middle With You is a decent tune but not a particular favourite. Same with No More Mr Nice Guy. I don't remember the Bowie song but if I did like it, it would be in a very select club. I've only ever been taken by a couple of his. I have some Nazareth but I'm pretty sure I've never heard Broken Down Angel. Good band, though, so I might be adding it to the list, once I've had a couple of listens. Medicine Head have passed me by completely. Blues band, according to Wikipedia.
I have... Aladdin Sane - David Bowie For Your Pleasure - Roxy Music Billion Dollar Babies - Alice Cooper Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd Talking Book - Stevie Wonder Piledriver - Status Quo Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel Houses Of The Holy - Led Zeppelin Tanx - T. Rex Transformer - Lou Reed Slayed? - Slade The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust... - David Bowie Moving Waves - Focus Wizzard Brew - Wizzard Imagine - John Lennon *********************************************** Grand Hotel - Procol Harum Still Alive And Well - Johnny Winter Can't Buy A Thrill - Steely Dan The Six Wives Of Henry VIII - Rick Wakeman Focus 3 - Focus Stealers Wheel - Stealers Wheel UPDATE - I have Cat Stevens' Teaser & The Firecat too; fancy me overlooking that one, one of my favourites.
Medicine Head are difficult to categorise. I have a studio album dating from 1970, New Bottles, Old Medicine, which alternates hard, raw, almost fuzzed-up blues rock tracks with almost folky, pastoral stuff. I also have a singles comp; '(And The) Pictures In The Sky', from 1971, is vaguely T. Rex-like; 'One And One Is One' and 'Rising Sun', their 1973 hits, are funky, quirky and melodic, prominently featuring a Jew's harp and a mouthbow respectively. It's definitely worth checking out a hits comp. There is a definite blues influence there, but I certainly wouldn't call them a blues band.
That's a pretty decent UK top 10 - I even don't mind Perry Como in a retro kind of way. Certainly his song is a contrast to the major glam rock songs surrounding it. I had to look up Deodata to remind myself of their song as I couldn't remember it. I wonder why it was in the charts - a jazz tinged version of the theme tune from 2001: A space Oddity? Was it included in a TV or film theme of the time?
Was there a singles edit of the Deodata song only the shortest version I can find on my streaming platform is over 8 minutes long and it does become a tad noodly doodly?

Wow! That's an impressive list. I have Bridge Over Troubled Water too; don't know how I missed that one off.
2001 : A Space Odyssey ( ) was a relatively recent film at that time, and the scene where we hear "Also Sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss, upon which the Deodato track is based, was already iconic. Funked up danceable-ish jazz was just starting to take a hold at that time, with Lalo Schifrin already making his mark, and the combination of jazz, dance, a touch of funk, and some Latin American feel was a breath of fresh air. Add to that a familiar and memorable classical theme, and you have "hit". Also, the list of musicians is like a "Who's Who" of 1970s jazz and jazz-funk, including Stanley Clarke, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter, and John Tropea. The single edit was also much shorter and radio-ready, and it therefore got a lot of radio play. My only regret is that Billy Cobham's drums are hard-panned and so far back in the mix. Perhaps Eumir Deodato was insistent that his keyboards had to be front and centre, and b*gger what actually sounds best.
