Wasn't the release date in the US June 1?

  4. Cool story here... Someone who was in England bought the LP on it's release date and brought it back to Montréal and it was played over the loudspeakers at Expo '67!

Is it that time of year again?

Lovely record, just lovely. My favourite song for this year's celebration is Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

It's amazing what they accomplished with a 4-track tape recorder.

Rumours going round that they were actually even better than the Bay City Rollers.

Aye. It's the Rollers that inadvertently led me to The Beatles. i.e. "there must be something better to listen to than this".

I bought it with birthday money in 1977, when I turned 10. 56 myself this year, damn.

    This album's a landmark, a masterpiece, IMO.
Had it on cassette first. Well, borrowed from our local library. That was in 2001 or so.
Eventually got it on CD shortly after. Bought a used Canadian LP pressing for €1, then got the 2009 remaster CD, the 2014 mono vinyl and the 2017 box set.
But don't think I have enough copies by now.^^

The Phonograph Stylus Preservation Society stopped it. Running the needle in the run-out groove over and over damages the stylus as the pull to one side will eventually skew the stylus and cantilever in one direction. But who cares?
