Found any good record stores?

 

No - I'm almost 3 hours south of Auckland and it's bumsville country out here.

I found a warehouse full of (I kid you not -this is verified) 10 million secondhand books, just outside of Tauranga.
It also came with a secondhand record store and collectibles place - not a sausage between them.
In the vinyl store, you have never seen a bigger collection of awful albums, in quantity, that no-one wants, in your life.
Easily 4-5000 albums, all ****e.
Jim Nabors, Julie Andrews, ONJ, Herb Alpert, Vera Lynn, and on and on....

But, if you were living in country NZ in the 60s and 70's, what would YOU have been listening to?
Don't say The Stones and Pink Floyd - not out here.
You don't drive trucks and crop fields listening to poppy psych and prog.

 

Did you find out who the NZ equivalent of Kamahl is?

This arrived today. Well packaged. Very nice. Haven't opened it yet.
As you all may know I'm not a fan of GZ Media the pressing plant for this set, but I'm guessing these days it's very hard to press a 16 LP box set without the logistics of a behemoth like that.

 

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS - SIAMESE DREAM 2XLP

$90 might not sound like a great deal but that is $60 cheaper than Discrepancy, someone might be after it, it says 2011 release but pretty sure this is the 2020 master, it has sold for more on discogs.

I think overall GZ has been getting better, I think the last Beatles box set was done there and that was pretty good, this set seems to be good as well, worth play checking all the albums though, my copy of Let it Bleed popped and crackled, Discrepancy replaced it really quickly.

 

It's a new 2023 repressing of this remaster.

 

Discrepancy's mid-year clearance didn't last long, went back for another snoop around this morning, and everything has gone back to full price!
