They have one of these in a longbox at a local shop for $20, the longbox has some wear and has been resealed so I havent seen the disc, but Im sure i could open it before i buy it. If the disc is clean, does this seem like a good deal??

  2. Yep - I recently posted a "buy it now" for this CD and offered significantly more.

Pick it up and if you don't like it sell it here and get your $$ back.

Buy it! It's a very nice release of this album. Excellent Doug Sax mastering.

I prefer the sound of the LB edition over the jewel case.

So I bought it, the disc is pristine, but there is no front insert in the jewel case. Is that normal for the longbox editions?

There should be a foldout set of notes attached to the inside of the longbox IIRC.

There is a foldout poster inside the front of the longbox with liner notes.

No front inserts on these Mastersound longboxes (at least the 2 I have - Simon & Garfunkel BOTW and Pink Floyd WYWH).

    That's too bad.

    Why - no foldout poster?

For what it's worth, in my opinion it is the best sounding CD release of the album hands down. I have the Sony UK "Millennium Edition" 1999 release (cat#: MILLEN 2) which uses the same mastering but has a beautiful thick card replica LP sleeve - try finding one of those if you want the same mastering but with better packaging.

    :)

    Me too.

What, no fold out poster of a photograph that's already blown up past decent clarity?

Buy a vinyl copy of the album if you want the "authentic" art representation. That CD is the best sound you can get of that title, digitally.

Try the Classified's here first. Not sure why you would sell this though....
FWIW they go for 50USD hereabouts, maybe 60 for the longbox.

Yeah, it has the foldout poster, and it sounds great. But I decided there are a lot of other CD's that Id rather have than this one. With the money from this I can buy my David Bowie AU20's or Pink Floyd Meddle MOFI that Ive been wanting.
