What would it look if they did their solo albums and came back together?

Czeskleba posted somewhere about this and it makes perfect sense.

John could never chop up Plastic Ono Band. Too personal.

George was pretty set on releasing an album of his backlog of songs. He mentions it in the Get Back boots, and it made no sense to wait for the next Beatles album to release one or two measly songs. Phil Spector's production also stamps All Things Must Pass with a unifying sound that wouldn't mix well with say a McCartney track.

Like the others, McCartney clearly needed a break.

And they all mentioned going off and coming back together later on. So what would it look like?

What I would've liked from John:
    Imagine
    Jealous Guy
    I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier
    Gimme Some Truth

    From Paul:
    Too Many People
    Back Seat Of My Car
    Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
    Smile Away

    From George:
    Deep Blue
    Window, Window (never properly recorded?)
I Live For You (probably re-done)

    From Ringo:
    It Don't Come Easy

Using some of the criteria of the OP with some of my own tastes thrown in:

    SIDE ONE:
    Instant Karma – John
    Another Day – Paul
I Live For You – George
It Don’t Come Easy – Ringo
    Jealous Guy – John
    Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey – Paul

    SIDE TWO:
    Not Guilty – George
    Gimme Some Truth – John
    Dream – Ringo
    You – George
Back Seat of My Car – Paul
    Oh Yoko – John

The Fab Faux did a show last year like this. It was the "Solo Years," but they only included stuff that was written (or almost-kinda-written, so they could sneak in a few more cuts) while the Beatles were still together.

I have to say I think I enjoyed this show more than I enjoyed their Beatles-era show that I saw.

Yeah, this has been the subject of discussions around here quite often. My only comment is it would probably have to be another double album...there would have been way too much material (especially with George coming into his own as a writer) for just a single slab.

I dunno, if the single disc track listings suggested here represent the "creme de la creme", a second disc would only water down the project that much more. The single discs suggested here have 3 or 4 gems, 3 or 4 middlings, and a couple of dogs.

McCartney and Lennon were nothing but prolific at this point. Seems like, if for no other reason, a double album would have been the only way to appease their egos..."Paul's got more songs on it than me...no fair!" Not sure it being "watered down" would have been top of mind.

I don't disagree with your assessment of their prolific writing, and the need to appease egos. I was looking at it strictly from an end-user viewpoint: what would be the strongest possible album for the average Joe and Jane Recordbuyer?

The suggestions for a one-disc album outlined in this thread don't overwhelm me from a purely musical standpoint. This album would have had its various merits, but it would not have been the second coming of "Revolver" or "Sgt. Pepper"...

Not to threadcrap :p but.....in kind of the same vein as this thread, McCartney throughout the January 1969 "Get Back" sessions was trying to get the Beatles to do, if not a series of small "surprise" shows, at least one big show. What do you think the setlist for that concert would've looked like-?

Obviously it would be heavy on the "Get Back" tracks, but what else would they have done? I doubt they could've gotten away with a 20 minute show in 1969!

This thread has been done too but it has been a while. Using bootlegs and live albums put out by ex Beatles thru the years I made a CRD of a Beatles Live concert as if it happened in the late 70's. Amazing wHAT YOU CAN DO WITH PRO TOOLS, tUNES UP FROM THE gET bACK sESSIONS AND A aUDENCE CLAPPING.

Obviously with THIS forum, you can count on a 13th Beatles LP thread, but this one's about the album they could've made had they done their solo debuts and reunited. That's vaguely what they hoped for before things got worse.

    A Mythical Beatles Album 1971

I'm sure this thread has had some legs in the past but I thought it would be interesting to revisit what post-Abbey Road album the Beatles could have made in 1971.

The source of available original songs would come from what they had left unreleased at the time, released solo while the Beatles still existed as a band, had in demo form or known to have tried out during the Get Back rehearsals.

I have tried to list such songs by each member to then decide on a final album listing. The list is not exhaustive.

    John:
    Love
    Give Peace a Chance
    Cold Turkey
Jealous Guy (a.k.a Child Of Nature)
Imagine (included as a snippet of its melody appeared on the "fly on the Wall
    Gimme Some Truth
    Instant Karma

    Paul:
    Come and Get It
    Another Day
    Every Night
    Maybe I’m Amazed
    Back Seat Of My Car
    Suicide
    Teddy Boy
    Junk

    George:
    Sour Milk Sea
    Not Guilty
    All Things Must Pass
    Isn’t It a Pity
    Window Window
    Hear Me Lord
    Let It Down
Tell Me What Had Happened To You
    I Live For You
    Going Down To Golders Green

    Ringo:
    It Don’t Come Easy
    Back Off Boogaloo

I think if this hypothetical album had happened, George's songs would have been acclaimed as the stand outs. (Perhaps Instant Karma! would have been a non-LP single instead.)

Well most of these had already been rejected so my guess is that a 1971 album would have none of these, and they wiould have written more songs if they had continued as a group. The list of songs that the Beatles never wrote and recorded in 1971 is actually much longer than the list of songs that were written and recorrded in demo or other form prior to that year, so not sure how you speculate.

I think it would have been five Lennon tracks, five McCartney tracks, two George tracks and one Ringo track. My selection would be:

    John:
    Love
    Cold Turkey
Jealous Guy (a.k.a Child Of Nature)
    Gimme Some Truth
    Instant Karma

    Paul:
    Another Day
    Every Night
    Maybe I’m Amazed
    Back Seat Of My Car
    Teddy Boy

    George:
    All Things Must Pass
    Hear Me Lord

    Ringo:
    It Don’t Come Easy
