I've recently gotten on a major CCR related kick...between John's solo material and the SACD's that Steve mastered. I checked out a few Tom Fogerty solo tracks and I like what I've heard (Goodbye Media Man, Joyful Resurrection, What Did I Know) so far. I'd like to pursue his solo output further. Can someone give me some recommendations as to a good place to start, as well as the sound quality of his cd's. Thanks :righton:

One thing I did notice is that Tom sounds A LOT like John. Or is it the other way around. :)

These three I like, but have them on vinyl only:
    Tom Fogerty - 1971
    Excalibur - 1972
    Zephyr National - 1974

Tom was also in the Jerry Garcia Band for a spell. Jerry played on Tom's s/t lp, and brother John played on Zephyr National with Stu Cook and Doug Clifford as the rhythm section. He also played on these Merle Saunders/Jerry Garcia albums:

    Heavy Turbulence (1971)
    Fire Up (1973)
    Fire Up + (1992)
    Keepers (1997)

As a long time huge CCR fan, I never heard or thought to even seek out a Tom Fogerty record, until I read the praises in this thread. I was able to get a copy of Excalibur .

I can't believe how much that could pass as one of John's solo records.
Are only the LP's from the early 70's worthwhile searching out ? Or are there some duds in his catalog ?
