Gimell specializes in music of the Renaissance.

Cannot find on either, but I am guessing they are just that. As for the above VC, the cd price is steep:

  6. You weren't asking me, but I think I got my copy of that LP very cheap, a few years ago, something like 1.99

I have an SACD player, and I am able to hook it up to my receiver and hear two-channel SACD. I suppose I could have five speakers, but I'm not interested, so I just hooked it up to play stereo.

    Ravel

    Now playing:
    • Ravel: Bolero + La Valse + Rapsodie Espagnole + Alborada del Gracioso* + Daphnis et Chloe, Suite No. 2^ - Pierre Boulez/New York Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra*, Camerata Singers^

Sony Classical single-layer stereo-only SACD 'Boulez Conducts Ravel' 2000

Who doesn't love Bolero? This is my favorite performance (1974) with incredible sound, one of the best of the Sonys. The other recordings date from 1969 to 1975. Boulez rules with this French orchestral repertoire. I was lucky to be able to see him conduct Debussy last February in Chicago. I can't remember what it was off the top of my head, ugh...Images??

Well, Joe Walsh loves Bolero. He interpolated it on the first James Gang album. You think you're better than Joe Walsh, tough guy?! :)

The most significant recording of Boulez I have is the Wagner Complete Ring Cycle, a 14-record LP set I bought in the late 80's. That was also the last significant LP purchase I made. I may consider buying the DVD set of this work. I just love watching Gwyneth Jones, who in her prime was slim, sensual and beautiful but came with a powerful voice. She was fabulous in her two performances of the Beethoven 9th with Leonard Bernstein and the Vienna Philharmonic.

10 bones, but he threw in a Toscannini lp (more on that tonight) in minty condition for 2. So, I averaged them to 6, which worked for me considering the HvK was sealed.

Interesting find indeed. I do not own one single LP by Toscannini. The Beethoven Complete Symphonies and the live 1954 concert at Carnegie Hall are all on CD.

I cannot even find an entry for this over $100 CD in the 92-93 DG catalog. The CD might have been issued after 1992.

I have Bolero by HvK on LP. I don't think I have it on CD.

There's a multichannel hybrid SACD of this with Alan Civil and Marriner that's quite good.
