So we shouldn't send you a copy of Barbra's Christmas Album, or the Chipmunks? Or even Brenda Lee?

To not send me any pop Christmas songs would be a gift in and of itself. :D

But Rumor and Fleetwood Mac is not exactly classical music even if it may be rock classics ...
My Rumor, both LP and CD have been collecting dust big-time.

I meant to say that I have no love for non-classical Christmas music, of course.

    So it's not just a rumor? :D

My non-classical collection is quite modest. I think I have under 400 CD's and LP's. This number is miniscule compared with my collection in classical.

I actually do not like pop Christmas songs either. I prefer to listen to Messiah or Christmas Oratorio.

    Whaddya think of it?

Have you listened to the clarinet quintet yet? Are you familiar with it?

It is a change of pace for me. From symphonic to baroque to chamber, the ensemble gets smaller and smaller. I am still most comfortable with baroque. At any rate, there are some very delightful movements to the pieces in this set I quite enjoy. The clarinet quintet is the 4th and next CD, which I have not got to yet. Can't wait to find out how it sounds.

I bought all the works separately in the 90's.

I thought they were too expensive for me and held out for something cheaper. I got lucky. :)

I have mixed feelings about the mega-packs. While they cost less, they are also not packaged as nicely as the singles.

I almost forgot about this Praetorius Christmas CD. I have no doubt I only played this CD once.

I will also watch at least one of these 2 DVD's on JS Bach Christmas Oratorio I have ...
I love that atmosphere that I can feel by watching the video ...

Consider yourself so gifted. I am currently not sending you "Peace on Earth/The Little Drummer Boy" from a "Broadway Cares" Christmas CD.

Jay, I am now enjoying the monaural Helmut Walcha's complete JS Bach Organ Works recorded in the 40's and 50's. The set sounds nice even though it is not stereo. It was a major bargain - under $20. I am still astounded by how someone who became blind at age 19 could become such a great organist.

I'm going to wait and buy the stereo one. I got an Amazon gift card, and I haven't figured out what I want to buy with it yet. I was leaning towards knives and/or other kitchen stuff, though what I really want, a Sabatier carbon steel knife, isn't something I can get from Amazon, so that puts Walcha back on the list. But there's also that Kinks box set, though it includes their later stuff, which doesn't interest me.

I thought both you and Bill have this Walcha's stereo set. At any rate, I will probably get the stereo set after the New Year. When it comes to classical masterpieces, I always have multiple versions.

I've only had Walcha on LP, which I no longer own. I sold a lot of stuff when I moved ten years ago, including my (relatively few) classical LPs.

When I moved from NYC to Poughkeepsie in the 80's, I moved every LP I owned. I had 40 cartons of LP's when I moved then.

I'm the opposite of a pack rat, whatever that might be called. I have a need to edit my possessions every so often, or it feels as if they own me.

I just ordered the set from Newbury Comics, which is selling the set for $55.99 while Amazon is asking for $86.49. I do not pass up a bargain like this.
