Yes, it's a Ren and Stimpy thread... I've got a question for you R&S experts. It's about the Log Song. There's a guy I know who insists the lyrics are "It's better than good, it's wood," but I've NEVER heard or seen this version. He doesn't believe me when I tell him the lyrics are really "It's better than bad, it's good," even though I spent half my childhood watching this show :realmad:. If he ever watched an episode of Ren and Stimpy, he'd know the right answer, but he's always really stubborn. Just googled this stuff, and I couldn't find any information about it. Any ideas on where he could've got this from? Thanks for reading.

Well, I was about to skip over this thread, since I don't really watch the show, but I know The Log Song, and figured if there was a chance this thread was about that, I could contribute... lo and behold!

Only version I've ever heard puts you in the proper for sure.

Thanks. You'd have to meet this guy to fully understand the situation. He could argue the sky is green and win any debate over it. I'll just have to send him this link and a youtube link. It just really ticks me off that he'd tell me I'm wrong even though I've spent years of my life watching this show, and he's obviously never seen it.

    How'd I do?

Dead on. You won a free Civil War Field Doctor Log! Now with 30% more leeches...

Thanks for the replies, but do you guys have any idea about where he could've got this from? The only thing I can think of is bad hearing, but he assured me he heard it correctly.

Great show early on. I remember seeing the first show broadcast on UK TV. I was quite depressed at the time and it cheered me up no end.

    Really different.

Ever notice when they show an extreme close up of the inside of Rens mouth there's always a weird foreign object that doesn't belong? LOL

He is probably destined to become the host of a talk radio or cable news show.

Yeah, you're probably right. We've got into stuff like this before, but it's like he wins because he gets mad (a la Eric Cartman). Next time, I'm just gonna say "If I scream really loud, I can make my point look valid too!"

That would be pretty funny with this guy.

Thanks for that link. That was hilarious. Yeah, it's about like that sometimes. It is really frustrating, but most of the time, he's far from an idiot. The rest of the time, well, you get the idea.

Just about every close up on that show looked really weird and gross. That's part of why I love the show so much.

Thanks for all the input. I didn't realize so may people here like the show.

The show had music by "Powerhouse" composer Raymond Scott...his "Music for a Bunch of Hungry Cannibals" Lp was used for the show,I remember!:righton:

Your friend must not have seen the show in a long time. Once you hear that song, it's difficult to get out of your head.

These were on the market for about three nanoseconds, back in the early 90s. Wish I had grabbed Ren, too.

That has some incorrect lyrics. I have bolded the bits i have corrected:

    What rolls down stairs
    alone or in pairs,
Rolls (not "And") over your neighbor's dog?
    What's great for a snack,
    And fits on your back?
    It's log, log, log

    It's log, it's log,
    It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad, it's good."

    Everyone wants a log
    You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
    Everyone needs a log
    log log log

    *whistle*

Also, they have a couple of extra it's in the chorus. It goes:

    "It's log, log,
    It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, log, it's better than bad, it's good."

    ...and, there's no whistle. :)

    Yup, correct there too.

I love this show, it's a shame it's not on dvd in New Zealand, and i've heard bad things about the aussie dvd release.

I'll just have to stick with my VHS off the tele. It's sadly mostly full of the Games Animation episodes, and also has the final episode. The only really good episode on it is Sven Hoek.

This thread comes back from the dead, 3 years later?

Note that the entire jingle and commercial were inspired by the original 1960s American commercials for Slinky:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZL6RGkPjws

Show creator John Kricfalusi was very much a child of the 1960s, so he grew up with these goofy commercials like a lot of other people. The "Log" commercial is a very funny pastiche of that whole thing.

I have a question about the dvd sets that I hope I can get some help with. I know that when Paramount first put out the S1-2 set back in 2004, despite being called "Uncut", it used the edits of some episodes. Was this ever corrected for the "Mostly Complete Collection" DVD set that came out in 2018? I'm referring to the set here:

The Ren & Stimpy Show: The Mostly Complete Collection DVD

I see a few comments at Amazon talking about the edits from S1-2, but they were posted before the box set even came out, and may have just been assuming this would have the same discs. It very well might, but I'm hoping someone here knows for sure.
