Found a mint copy in a local store in mint condition. It sounds very, very good. Kevin Gray @ ATM in the deadwax. Kevin did a nice job on this one.

Anyone else a fan of this LP reissue?

Thanks for the title edit. The Rhino is the one I am talking about. :)

I love Kevin's work, but I find it hard to believe any pressing of this album could sound as good as my DCC LP. :righton:

I don't know. I was going to get this but haven't yet. I heard it at a friend's house. I found it a bit lacking. "The Last Resort" didn't give me the warm and fuzzies. I could swear I heard some inner groove distortion as well. I won't say my opinion is definitive or set in stone, but my first impression was rather blah.

If there is inner groove distortion, I seriously doubt it's Kevin's fault.

I agree as I've never heard any inner groove distortion on anything cut by Kevin.

    The cart was probably mistracking.

I have an original STERLING copy of it - excellent
The Rhino UK reissue of 2 years ago -pretty good
The Simply Vinyl version - not very good at all
The Mobile Fidelity version - I believe the Mobile Fidelity LP is ''one of the better sounding MoFi's'' can anybody confirm.

Unfortunately the Rhino US reissues (Kevin/Steve) are quite expensive over here about $40.

I had to purchase a second copy of this re-release to get a good pressing. The mastering is first rate, it's at the pressing stage where the problems originate.

In another thread this problem with KG's "Hotel California" was briefly mentioned. (posts 7 and 10, in particular)

I thought the pressing was noisy too. I'm only reporting what I heard with my own ears. I wasn't knocked out. Sorry fellas.

My copy was badly off-center on side two, as were the other three copies at my local record hut.

Then again, no one else here has reported getting an off-center press, so apparently these were the only four in the entire run!

Mine is "Sterling" too - no need whatsoever to ever look for another pressing IMO

My original US sounds so good my wife went to the music room to comment how good it sounded. That rarely happens.

What kind of cans does he wear, 'cos I want a pair. The Sterling pressings are great, finding a quiet one can be a challenge, though. DCC vinyl is amazing, too.

That would help explain the Eagles' popularity.
