That little black board in the last pic came from "Studio in the Country" in Bogalusa, LA. They call it the "Dust in the Wind" board.

    Cool thread. :righton:

Does anyone happen to have a photo(s) of EMI Abbey Road Studio 2 before the famous stairs were installed (i.e. when the control room was on the same level as the studio itself)?

This a link from my site. I got this image from Dave Moysiaddis, mastering eng @ Frankford Wayne in Philly back in the late sixties / early seventies. Dave was slightly concerned about 'clearance / permission' for this image which I think is unwarranted, but will pull if there are any objections.

This is a Gamble-Huff session, Bobby Eli is facing the camera.

Huff (out of the frame) on piano

    Ely: fuzz tone, wah
    Norm Harris: rhythm
    Gamble: pipe

    While I'm here, two questions:
    - Who were the engineers on the Sinatra / Capitol sessions?
    - anyone want to donate disc cutting equipment to a recording school?

To me, everyone looks a bit older in the color photo (and what a color photo!) than they do in the B&W shots.

    Great shots!
Steve, in the picture of the Flintstones session in your first post, was that for the show or that album of music they made in around '60 or '61?

ETA: Hmmm, from what they're holding )scripts), looks like it's for the show.

I'm wondering if that's Ben Stern (Howard's dad) at the console.

I was briefly tempted to post a pic of me during some sessions on Pete Townsend's old 8 track in about 1986 but then I remembered it was during my 180lb days so no! Anyway the ceiling was about 6'4" and I' was 6'3" so there was a feeling of dread about going down those steps!!
    Now I'm 130lb and 6'2". What's THAT all about?

I would be interested in seeing the photos - what do you think, folks? :) MOST of us, speaking for myself, are getting bigger as the years go on!

I don't think Howard ever mentioned the his father recording the Flintstones. I do remember him mentioning Tennesee Tuxedo however.
