  1. I am surprised that eBay has not pulled the listing yet. I'm sure they will sometime before the auction closes.

Millions of auctions. What's the interest? It's not a ten-million-dollar picture on a piece of toast...

Perry Cox or Bruce Spizer might care; but it's not their product.

  3. The actual formation and placement of the matrix numbers looks off a bit as well. For example, in the last pic, the first 'X' in 'XEX' is spaced too far to the left of the following 'EX'.

In another pic, the '-' between 'XEX' and the following numbers (looks like '11-1' to me but the seller claims it's '711-1') is way too high.

IMO, looks like fake vinyl although would it have really been that difficult to at least include real mono LP's?

In regards to the cover, the seller took a non-numbered edition and put a number on it. At least that's my guess.

    This one is getting interesting.

That current bid is ridiculous for something that is hard to prove authenticity of.

  5. All it takes is one complaint and the right eBay customer service representative.

That's true; you could kill it on the paypal violation alone.

You might have fun showing it was a fake; just because it's not documented doesn't make it not what the seller says - though counterfeit, forgery, intended to deceive seems a good description.

Any of the Beatles info sites.. well, other than here.... watching this one? Plenty were on the copy number five in 2008.

    That's an odd concept...

Actually, one of mine is **exactly** like that... that was one of the keys I was using to see if he had genuine mono discs. Which I do believe is the case.

After correcting a few of his pictures for proper exposure, though, I think I'd seriously dispute his EX+ grading... :)

    Except there weren't any non-numbered top-loaders.

I don't think so-- it appears to be a numbered cover, alright (and as was pointed out, the top-loader aspect verifies that)... it's just that it appears the last four numbers have been changed.

He'd have been much better off (and attracted far less scrutiny) by just picking a very low number, instead of trying to pull off "No. 0000000".

There's been a bid retraction...high bidder was willing to pay GBP 5,000.00...explanation for retraction "Cannot contact the seller".

    The auction was ended early.

On the description, there is the message:

"TOMOROWW I TAKE OFF THE RECORD AFTER A LOT AND A LOT OF QUESTIONS

IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME **************(ONLY IF YOU ARE REALLY INTERESTED)"

For the record, I contacted him asking about the payment method and the reply was just:

"I accept bank wire transfer. Regards, good evening"

    BTW, looking at this picture

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=200491234262

It seems to me he attached a white paper on the regular Apple label, isn't there something greenish near the deadwax?

A strange ending to this one.

Wonder if there'll be a sequel.

And not a sign of a Beatles album on the car photos.

    Bizarre auction

So was it retracted by the owner and will be listed again or has e-bay intervened?

Here's another Parlophone pressing oddity for sale.
However, no question of it's authenticity this time around.
