  2. I'm going to see them in Danbury on 8/19. I also saw their Rock n' Soul Revue. That was great.

The (re-)pairing of Fagen and Boz is a good match. Some of Boz's best music has that slick, almost jazz-like sheen to it. But where Fagen leans to jazz, Boz always had that R&B edge. Back in the early 80's if the two of them had cut an lp together, it would have been massive. Last I heard, Boz still had a lot of his voice intact.

Going Sept. 3 @ Jones Beach, which I shall re-christen "Blues Beach" for the occasion. Missed the original NY Rock and Soul Revue the first time 'round, so I am amped for this.

I wish there was a way to get a request through to Fagen...I think Lou Rawls' "Natural Man" would be a fantastic choice for a soul cover. Every time I hear it, I hear Fagen's voice singing it in my head.

I hope you lucky attendees will write reviews, maybe with setlists and a full description of the backing band.

I'm going to mark this thread to follow.

What's wrong with Al Green, other than that he wasn't part of that California soft rock sound??

  13. Sounds great, wish I could be there.

I don't have any plans to attend the shows, but here's to hoping Michael McDonald gets his mojo back. I miss good Michael McDonald records.

I saw McDonald open for Steely Dan a few years ago and he absolutely blew me away. He is amazing live.

might be his best solo effort since the debut...then he went "all covers, all the time". :shake:

BLUE OBSESSION is pretty damn good, I agree. And IF THAT's WHAT IT TAKES is awesome. Now THAT would make a nice Audio Fidelity gold CD!

Anybody ever hear the *original* version of BLUE OBSESSION that was out briefly as a Reprise Records promo CD? It's slightly different and I've never heard a copy. I've never been able to get one, no matter how hard I've tried. Never, ever see it listed anywhere.

Guitarist Drew Zingg was in both the Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs touring bands. I wonder if he'll show up.
