I was going to fork out for the Sundazed mono albums on vinyl, I think I'll now wait to see if this CD version is a reality before doing so as this would be my preferred option and hopefully cheaper too.

I agree and am still waiting for; a live Gospel set, Blackbushe 78, NET covers etc, etc. I have had enough of the 60's for now.

No interest in mono Dylan, but I look forward to Bootleg Vol. 9.

  6. My interest lies more in the mono box, but I hope Sony does not emulate EMI's extortionist pricing strategy for the Beatles' mono box. The stray mono singles should be included if they want to target completists and collectors.

I hope you're right. But "business is business," so I'm not overly optimsitic.

Agreed. A catch-all of soundtrack/charity/tribute album contributions. Dunno how many stray tracks there are.

How about if I throw in "it smokes the [version]," "stereo mixes were an afterthought," "meant to be heard," and "MONO!" in caps? Those usually win me over.

That price on Amazon is only relevant in that you can preorder and this would be the worst case price.

That was kind of one of my points. I can easily see the box dropping to a hundred bucks or thereabouts by October, which would average out to about 12 bucks per CD. Absolutely not beyond the realm of reasonable as far as cost goes...

  14. There are quite a few of them. Off the top of my head:

Grand Coulee Dam, I Ain't Got No Home, Dear Mrs. Roosevelt (Woody Guthrie tribute)
Band Of The Hand (Band Of The Hand OST)
Pretty Boy Floyd (other Woody Guthrie tribute)
    People Get Ready (Flashback OST)
This Old Man (from some charity record)
You Belong To Me (Natural Born Killers OST)
Boogie Woogie Country Girl (Doc Pomus tribute)
Ballad Of Hollis Brown (1993 re-recording with Mike Seeger)
My Blue-Eyed Jane (Jimmie Rodgers tribute)
Chimes Of Freedom (1998 re-recording with Joan Osbourne)
Things Have Changed (Wonder Boys OST)
Can't Get You Off Of My Mind (Hank Williams tribute)
Train Of Love (Johnny Cash tribute)
Waitin' For You (Divine Secrets... OST)
    Mutineer (Warren Zevon tribute)
'Cross The Green Mountain (Gods & Generals OST)*
    Huck's Tune (Lucky You OST)*

*Now available on "Tell Tale Signs".

There are also many other rarities. B-sides, live versions, old studio and home recordings that appeared in various places. A Bob Dylan rarities set could easily be a 3- or 4-disc box.
This is however a subject for a different thread.

What a great list you've put together here. Thank you for that.
Just downloaded "Train Of Love" off iTunes -- never had heard it before.
"This Old Man" is on the Disney Records' FOR OUR CHILDREN compilation, I believe.
Now I've gotta find MP3s (or MP4s) of "Waitin' For You" and "Mutineer."

"Train of Love" is beautiful--you're going to enjoy that one. I was pleased to find that this was officially available, too!

... and one of my favorites... "Red Cadillac and a Black Moustache" (Good Rockin' Tonight)

The above may be for another thread, but unfortunately, like some others here, I was hoping for some more later stuff in BS9. This may be the first one I don't buy.

I'm interested in the mono CDs and the new bootleg, although I'm not sure the mono mixes will surpass my SACDs.

I have most of the Sundazed mono LPs from a few years ago (lacking Freewheelin' and ASOBD). I'll probably pick up the two LPs I'm missing for 18 bucks each and wait on the mono CDs.
