She is actually a fine pianist when it comes to classical and romantic works. At this point in her career, she does not seem to have it for baroque keyboard works ...

Her collection on WarnerMusic is not bad either. I bought the set last year ...

For the best all-around pianist, look no further than S. Richter. I do not think there will ever be another pianist who can master keyboard repertoire from just about every period of classical music like him ...

I have the two de Pachmann arbiter CDs, so I will check them out again. Also, I have heard that Ward Marston may be working on getting out his complete recordings in the future on Marston label.

Great info, thanks! I have the GPOTTC set for him and will give it a fresh spin soon.

Another pianist I recently discovered is Zhu-Xiao-Mei. George, have you heard/what do you think of her?

Kind of reminded me of calling certain music bubble-gum, which is a denigrating expression ...

I am too old to go for the flavor of the week or flavor of the month when it comes to keyboard recordings. With Richter, Arrau, Gilels and at least another half-dozen of tried and true outstanding pianists, I do not see any point for me to even sample recordings by these so called new sensations ...

On that album I disliked the Bach, but loved the transcriptions.

Some of the best interpreters of Bach keyboard works such as Glenn Gould or Evelyn Tureck really have not impressed me as particularly outstanding when it comes to performing keyboard works by classical composers. As such, it is nothing unusual that a classical pianist like Helene Grimaud has not impressed with her first Bach recording ...

I suggest that you make an exception for Kemal Gekic.
