  1. Nice find!

  2. I found another copy of the Robert Plant - Now and Zen pressed by Capitol Records for WEA in the bins today. The matrix code is a little different than the first one I found though. Here's the matrix code for the disc I found today: 3 90863-2 SRC-03 CAPITOL JAX 6

Would be interesting to know if JAX 2 through 5 also exist for this title or if Capitol jumped from JAX 1 to JAX 6.

  3. I found another disc from the same collection of discs that the Robert Plant - Now and Zen mentioned in the previous post came from. This one is INXS - Kick and, like the Steve Winwood disc mentioned above, it was pressed by DADC. It's inner mirror band matrix code is: 3 81796-2 SRC-01 DIDM 2587 11A2
MADE IN U.S.A. BY DADC is printed at the 6 o'clock position on the disc.

  4. Came across another copy of INXS - Kick with an SRC glass master that was pressed by DADC today! It is a slight variation of the DADC matrix code on the pressing listed above. The matrix for this pressing is: 3 81796-2 SRC-01 DIDM 2587 11A20

Found this one the other day.

    Stephen Stills S/T
    3 7202-2 SRC-01
    M1S1

Has a frosted clear center. Not sure if I have seen any other like it, but probably have. I have also not come across a non-remastered version of this Stills solo album before this one.

Josh, I have an SRC-01 copy of Eagles Eagles. The complete matrix code is "5054-2 SRC-01".

Does your SRC-01 list consider only the earliest pressings without the leading number in front of the catalog number? In other words, one will sometimes find a matrix code "16029-2 SRC-01" or "1 16029-2 SRC-01". Are you considering both types?

You can write number of a matrix for CD
Charles, Ray The Great Ray Charles completely?
    Thanks!

  14. Hi Marius,
Rib sided jewel cases with long bar booklet stops are often found on 1st. generation SRC pressings so I would suspect that it is in the original jewel case. On the booklet tabs of the top cover of the jewel case there should be some embossed numbers or letters. Can you tell me what they are? It might help to identify if it is original!

    Doug

    Hi Keith,

This particular list is only considering the 1st. generation pressings....so, those that do not have the label identifier at the beginning of the matrix code. Your Eagles cd is a perfect example!

    Hi Doug,

    Thanks for your interest.
Today I checked the jewel case and the only number which i can see it on the bottom tab is '5'. This number have very small size. Here is the scan of the tab with embossed number

The other tabs do not have any numbers. The jewel case is in excellent condition, looks very nice and has minimal worn.

    Doug, what do you think?

  16. Marius,

I have good news for you...your case is the original! SRC used a variety of different jewel cases during the 1st Generation production run including the style that you have. Some other common identifiers of this style of jewel case include the slight indentation that is visible on the right edge of the lid in your photo. I believe that little dent was caused by the injection mold. You'll also see this same indentation on the rear tray. It should be the same distance up along the edge as it is on the top cover.

If you look very closely along the bottom edge of the bottom tray, you should also see a very, very tiny 5 embossed into the plastic approximately 2 inches from the left side. You'll probably need a magnifying glass to see it....it's that small!

Finally, the long bar booklet stops have an unusual spacing as they are located very near the top and bottom of the lid.

I hope this helps! You have a very nice find!

    Doug

Yes, indeed! 5 is also embossed int the rear try, but is very very small and smaller then 5 embossed on the tab.

Thank you very much for your help, this is very important and necessary info!
I was sure the jewel case was replaced cause looks like new...The CD came from California from privte owner and i think was storage carefully.

I must say that is not very easy to locate 1st-generation master glass release. Every answer that I received i can fit to 3ht generation. I was very surprise when the seller show me the scan.

Thank you so much for your help Doug

    Hi Keith

Yes. My list is very narrowly defined- only the 1st generation (no record label identifier), 1st glass master (SRC-01). My reasoning here was that an "early pressing" collector may be interested in only the very earliest SRC pressings. They are rather scarce and I sort of think about 1987 as the cut-off for "early pressing".

Hey, don't I owe you something???

A question for the SRC experts: I just found Warren Zevon The Best of with matrix [] 60503-2 SRC-01 [] and then on the opposite side of the mirror band M5 S2. Does this one meet the criteria for my list?

(I'll need to add that Eagles to the list)

O.K. Thanks. I agree with your approach and also that the earliest SRC pressings are rather tough to find.

Do you owe me something? Perhaps. I'm still keeping my eyes open for CBS/Sony pressings. ;)

Cool. Thanks. I collect targets and all other early stuff too...following in the footsteps of legends! ;)

And breathe easy, I don't renege on a promise! (Even with a PSU fan. LOL.)

Regarding post 218 & 223, it seems there is a question outstanding as to 1st, 3rd or some generation in between when the Mother/Stamper is at 6 o'clock. The Warren Zevon "Best of" in question (an SRC-01) was released in '86, so that tidbit doesn't help much unless it is known to have been released on CD after '87.

By the way, this week I saw an old "Adobe Font Folio" CD (circa 1990) pressed by SRC. :)
