I've seen Perenyi live several times. That photo catches his appearance in performance precisely.

These Wigmore Hall Live recordings have been pretty interesting with some excellent performances, though the SQ is not quite uniformly good IMO ...

BRO has good deals on these Anonymous 4 recordings. Unfortunately, it does not have all their recordings.

Indeed. Richter became my reference years ago in the Rach 2 and so far I have not heard a more powerful interpretation.

PRE is too far for me. It makes little sense for me to drive 100 miles to get some CD's.

For me, it's about the thrill of the hunt. I never know what I am going to find, but I always find some great stuff and there's 1000's of CDs to wade through.

OMG I'd be in Heaven!! :nyah:
We have a place here local that's a collective of Antique/Flea Market vendors under one roof.
Once a month I'll go threw there to see if there is anything interesting.
Yesterday it was our Local AAA Baseball Team (farm team for the NY Mets) Binghamton Mets signed Bat for $20. :righton:
Once in a while I find Classical Music Cd's but not very often.
There is getting to be a lotta rock CD's so it's just a matter of time.

I did find this one there still cello wrapped for $3 back around Halloween time.

    Now playing:
    • Frederic Rzewski: The People Will Never Be Defeated! 36 Variations on a Chilean Song (1975) - Ursula Oppens (piano) [Vanguard 1978, orig. 1J/1C first pressing LP, 'Recorded under the supervision of the composer' -- Oppens is the work's dedicatee, Produced by Joanna Nickrenz, Recording engineer: Allen Tucker, Recorded at Vanguard's 52nd Street Studio, New York -- this was recommended to me years ago, but I didn't come around to getting a hold of it till tonight, for a pittance]

I was playing this earlier from a French EMI original LP pressing.

But not a bad little reissue here, and Rostropovich was not real bad on Cello either. There is a 1987 or 88 CD from EMI UK that can be found cheaply with a different cover. The vinyl sounds amazing, more air, more thereness, more everything. I have that earlier CD and original LP, not this one pictured. But I'd bet it too sounds fine.

    Dutilleux: Cello Concerto,
    Lutoslawski: Cello Concerto
    Mstislav Rostropovich, Orchestre de Paris
