All of them (I never cry, You and me, How you gonna see me now) were Top 20 hits in US.

I think FROM THE INSIDE is a real return to form for Alice after the lackluster, uneven and sometimes confusing "Lace and Whiskey".

It's not a perfect album, there are a few clunkers here, but the high points are amazingly high. The title track, "The Quiet Room", "Nurse Rozetta" and "How You Gonna See Me Now?" are pure brilliance.

HYGSMN is way underrated, same as the sister ballads, "I Never Cry" and "You and Me". on the previous two albums. Alice really shines vocally on this stuff, with depth, feeling and soul. I know most Alice fans prefer the rockin' stuff, but these are great songs.

I can't compare FTI to the early ACG stuff, but I would say for 75-78 Alice, it's a distant second for me to WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE which I believe is a perfect album. Still, a great fun Alice album.

I am amazed how many people dig this Alice album. Pretty cool.

Looks like you fundamentally misunderstand what Alice is all about and the depth of his talent.

It's funny that ringosshed calls himself an Alice fan, yet is spending this entire thread shouting down everyone who expresses a positive opinion of this album.

We get it, you don't like it.

Not only am I okay with Alice's balladry, I like most of it both musically and lyrically. The ballads also give Alice the opportunity to sing in his "singer's" voice," which I actually prefer to his live "growly" voice, which must be tough to do for two hours on stage.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not an Alice Cooper fan and that I should only have positive opinions. Very constructive.

I get it you like it I don't.

You don't like the album, you've made that clear. Why are you mocking people that say they do as you've done earlier in this thread?

    Get a life.

Who is mocking anyone? Stop being a cry baby if someone doesn't share your opinion on something. Boo hoo.

The only one boo hooing around here is you over this album.

Keep on weeping into your handkerchief. As long as this thread is open I am going to comment on it. I'm certainly not breaking any forum rules. Get used to it!!

Moving on... 'For Veronica's Sake' sucks. Worst track on the LP. Filler to me.

What do you think 'ringosshed' ?

You and "remarkablyinsincere" need to keep the bickering within private messages...before you get this thread closed which many of us have enjoyed thus far.

It does rock a bit which I prefer to the ballads and this is a ballad heavy album. The odd thing about this is that Veronica is a dog.

Agreed. I don't want to close the thread but I don't want a pm from him either. I certainly wouldn't mind if someone panned something on FTF or Da Da and I love those albums which polarize a lot of fans.

    FOR VERONICA'S SAKE (3:37)
I got my name and number
    I got my bed assigned
I got a dog in the city pound
    That I left behind
    I'm strapped down and wild-eyed
She's locked up in a pen
She needs somebody to feed her
    And I'm her only friend

So for Veronica's sake I gotta get out of here
Yeah for Veronica's sake, she can get pretty weird
Yeah for Veronica's sake I gotta get myself out of here

We both been put in cages
We got our shots and tags
I got my sweatin' fist to shake
She's got her tail to wag
She has to bark and whimper
While I could scream and shout
The clock above the psycho ward
    Says time is running out

So for Veronica's sake I gotta get out of here
Yeah for Veronica's sake, she can get pretty weird
Yeah for Veronica's sake I gotta get myself out of here

And I can see her howling all night at the lonely moon
They're going to give her the gas if I don't get there soon
    I gotta get there soon

For Veronica's sake I gotta get out of here
Yeah for Veronica's sake, she can get pretty weird

LOVE For Veronica's Sake! Best song on the record IMO. Love the intro, it's a great rocker, and has a unique story

  24. Hi - Elton John question for you!

Hi, I've used this quote since it was your most recent, but I want to ask you about a similar but different topic. I read your comments on Elton's 17-11-70 album on Steve Hoffman forums, and I'm coming to you since you seem to be the expert. I am trying to get another copy of the original recording of this studio performance. I have a friend who moved away that had a bootleg of the performance entitled "Very Alive." He made me a digital copy and it ranks as my second favorite Elton John album after Tumbleweed Connection. If you could recommend a place to get it, or if you could email it to me, I would be elated! You can reach me at [email protected] thanks so much, if for nothing more than the knowledge you've imparted about the original recording.

    -Calvin

    JACKKNIFE JOHNNY (3:45)
From his army confessions of his military days
You still carry the shrapnel you're shell-shocked and dazed
Dear Johnny have you lost your way
Or like denim and leather are you faded and frayed

Institute lackies with hot bourbon breath
White coats and needles Johnny like to scare you to death
Dear Johnny do you feel your best
When you're strung out at night on your morphine and meth

Jackknife Johnny you're a floor moppin' flunkie
Tool of a dagger's drawn world
Jackknife Johnny them old vets gotta hate you
For bringing home that V.C. girl
Jackknife Johnny welcome to our world

From the tone deaf hearing of the draft board game
You were washing cars down in Dallas when the holocaust came
Dear Johnny your excuse was lame
All your friends sleep in boxes while you sleep in chains

Jackknife Johnny you're a bad jungle monkey
Tool of a dagger's drawn world
Jackknife Johnny them old vets gotta hate you
For bringing home that V.C. girl
Jackknife Johnny welcome to our world

Jackknife Johnny you're a floor moppin' flunkie
Tool of a dagger's drawn world
Jackknife Johnny them old vets gotta hate you
For bringing home that V.C. girl
Jackknife Johnny welcome to our world

Jackknife Johnny you're a bad jungle monkey
Tool of a dagger's drawn world
Jackknife Johnny them old vets gotta hate you
For bringing home that V.C. girl
Jackknife Johnny, welcom to our world
