Even a mint Capitol Sgt. Pepper doesn't sound that great.

Tell me :sigh: That is one reason why the mono set appeals to me as with the exception of Magical Mystery Tour it's not to hard to put together a reasonable analogue stereo set although it may take some perseverance so the attraction to newcomers to vinyl of a stereo set is obvious.

no "collection of beatles oldies", where is the historical accuracy? ;)

but seriously, it would be a nice counterpart to "big hits, high tide an green grass" which I love so much

I don't think Abbey Road Studios want to remaster fake stereo version of She Loves You....

If that mono set happens, I'm in the market. That's the day before my birthday, too. Hope I can find a way to afford it.

The Capitol mono isn't that bad. Sounds pretty great to me anyway.

IMO, a tube-cut UK mono pressing makes the Capitol mono sound like garbage; the Capitol stereo sounds pretty good (at least the copies I own).

The Beatles New Vinyl Alert!!! 3-14-2011

I honestly hope I'm not being a dupe here and jumping the ol gun, but I just PRE-ORDERED SEVEN!/7/YES, 7 NEW BEATLES titles on Amazon.de....ON VINYL!! :goodie:
Their giving RELEASE DATES AS FOLLOWS:
    1) 1967 (The Blue double album) Euros 30.99 May 30th 2011.
    2) 1962 (The Red double album) Euros 30.99 May 30th 2011.
    3) The White Album Euros 30.99 September 12th 2011.
    4) Yellow Submarine Euros 23.99 September 12th 2011.
    5) Please Please Me Euros 23.99 September 12th 2011.
    6) Revolver Euros 23.99 September 12th 2011.
    7) Sgt. Peppers Euros 23.99 September 12th 2011.

There is NO Mention of these on Amazon USA. I haven't checked the other ones yet as I'm still pretty stunned at coming across this today. Wow. Now, for us here in the USA is 23.99 Euro, which is about $30 an album-without shipping included-a good price for a nice German pressed (hopefully) Beatles Remastered Lp?? Are there Boxed Sets Slated to be released for Christmas??
In typical fashion, I don't see anything else mentioned on Amazon.de, so Now I have to unload my BC-13 Box and start saving.....
Peace and Music to you all.....

Update at 9:22 am, Amazon.de just added #8, With The Beatles Euros 23.99 September 12th 2011.

This is pretty much what Spyder said in the Beatles vinyl thread at the start of March, though the dates he was given were slightly later - October - for the original canon.
Looks like they've also brought forward the release dates for the Red/Blue comps - maybe to serve as a taster.

If the rest of his post is accurate, then there will be stereo (as well as mono) box sets, so if you plan on getting all of the original albums maybe best waiting until the boxes are listed rather than buying individual titles.

I think I'll wait on the reviews before unloading my BC-13 box set. Not that I can imagine unloading it anyway.

Hmm, hopefully this means we'll be getting an official announcement soon. Amazon doesn't typically create placeholder pages for high-profile items like this just based on wild speculation. Something is definitely coming.

Time has come. I wonder if they are going to test the market with the Blue and Red albums before deciding to release a Mono Box, which is really what I´m looking for.
