Ebay and/or Amazon I use them as my price guide.
(Cheaper of the 2 gets my dinero....I price check often) :agree:
I find many OOP or close to being OOP titles are $30+ in most cases.
Depends on if there are very many copies floating around....in this case...VERY FEW!
I'd never pay $60 for a CD but a hardcore collector might.
    Hey I'll pay $12 for a OOP $60 CD any day.....if it's something I like.
King's Noyse and Tallis Scholars are my 2 favs for early music! :righton:

    RE: Rachmaninov Symphony No. 1
Sorry to say I missed that. I will listen to this piece again later today. What strikes me is the first few bars of the first movement that features a major triad moving to minor. This major to minor triad resolution is (with timpani) an important "fate motif" in Mahler's Sixth. It is quoted again in M7.

Certainly one can see Tchaikovsky's ghost hovering over almost every note in this symphony.

    I have that one. :goodie:

Also the MLP Stravinsky "Firebird" which goes for $190 new at Amazon ($140 used). :goodie:

But I think my most valuable disc is the DCC "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook."

Many formerly OOP HM titles have been remastered and reissued in deluxe digipaks at budget price as part of the ongoing GOLD series, Herreweghe Schutz Musicalische Exequien among them. Clemenic's Carmina Burana in print for $10.89 as part of HM Musique D'Abord series. Amazon Marketplace prices do not necessarily reflect reality.

Very true regarding Tchaikovsky. Rach was pretty open about his love for Tchaikovsky.

I'm having a Bruckner 9-athon, listening to Celibadache, Wand, Barenboim, Bernstein (CBS), and Sinopoli, on iTunes Shuffle, blind testing which I like, which I like less. Celibadache is still my favorite, though that may have been another symphony I liked him best in.

I don't have either of those. Are there specific releases you like more than the rest?

listening now to another recording that i have only on cassette:Rachmaninoff-Symphony
No. 2/Philadelphia Orchestra/Ormandy.RCA Red Seal,1975.this is billed as complete, without the cuts that the composer sanctioned in earlier recordings.sounds
    pretty good on the boom-box.
