Can't wait. It may be a train wreck, but then again...

All I know is, I'll have to see it. And this is from someone who loves the original film; I suspect that Zemeckis will make this different enough to not bear direct comparison with the painted cel-animated original. I can't imagine what his vision is, but I'll give his piece a chance.

So those of us who love the film have bad taste or what?

Um no, I never said that. I just don't like the movie.

    Great soundtrack, though. :righton:

Like it or not, the originality of Heinz Edelman is the real 'missing piece' to this puzzle! If Zemeckis looses this 'style', then yes, the question is "Why?".
However, if he's gonna take the style, and 3-D it, that might be cool. Remember, that scene with the buildings before "Elenore Rigby" was quite groundbreaking back in it's day. I think on the commentary, it even surprised the cartoonist themselves, how great it looked!

Yes, the grainy style, cyclic animation used in Eleanor Rigby and the water-color style used in Lucy in the sky with diamonds were unique apsects of the movie.

I haven't gone through the entire thread, but I sincerely hope the new one is also animated. A live action version sounds like a terrible idea to me.

Well, that all depends.... do you call all that 'body capturing' stuff they do on computers now ANIMATION?

    Yes, because it is animation.

  13. I thought this was rather a bizarre idea to begin with.

  14. What shot a torpedo into the project and sent into the deep was the poor performance of the last two projects RZ did.

I suppose it's for the good in many respects although it might have been interesting to see what he had come up with.

This is like the first piece of good news I've heard in a while. :)

Zemeckis needs to go back to regular old live-action movies.

BTW, "Christmas Carol" didn't do poorly - it made $137 million. That's not a great performance, especially given its budget, but it didn't bomb...

  17. I'd disagree. It was entertaining and a perfect example of the integration of pop culture with a clever film.

I never even heard of "Mars Needs Moms" until now, I had to look it up on Wikipedia. Who ever thought that that would make a good movie? It even sounds terrible just in premise...

Who knows? I thought the recent Alice in Wonderland was OK.

  20. I understand that this is being redone as a vehicle for Justin Bieber.

Too late, it's already been remade as 'Spice World' staring the Spice Girls.

Hmmmm, Spice World. Is it me, or is there a flower on Posh Spice's dress exactly where...

I don't really care; I love to see some clips from the original every now and then, but it wasn't a real masterpiece then and I can't think of it being a stellar achievement of moviemaking now.
Now let's see if that CGI-version of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band gets out of pre-production hell!
