I haven't done the paid membership, so I'm not sure how it works. I don't know if I actually downloaded anything. I was just given a bunch of tracks I could listen to when I did a search, but they weren't in any particular order. Spotify is not yet recommended, at least not by me.

OK, Rachmaninoff. I have more I could recommend, but I have tried my best to stick to the cream of the crop. They are all available and relatively inexpensive on amazon.

    Solo piano

Ashkenazy - 24 Preludes and Sonata 2 - Original Issue OR First Reissue (I am 95% it's the same mastering)

Richter - Preludes and Etudes (a selection) Latest Reissue

Ogdon - Etudes Complete - Testament

    Concertos

    Janis/Kondrashin in PC 1 - Living Stereo

Richter/Wislocki in PC 2 - DG, Best Mastering

    Janis/Dorati in PC 3 - Living Stereo

Wild/Horenstein in PC 4 and Rhapsody - Chesky

    Symphonies

    Ormandy - on SONY

Okay. That looks good. Thanks, George.

New question: does anyone remember which version of Verdi's Requiem Deutsche Grammophon released on its midprice Galleria label back in the late '80s/early '90s?

My Amazon shopping cart is becoming enormous.

Yeah, I made it 5 minutes with that thing. I will likely uninstall it soon.

It's useful for listening to things to see if i want to buy them, but so far, not particularly user friendly as a dependable listening option.

Yeah, I'd sooner listen to stuff on youtube. At least there's no interruptions.

And I only gave you the tip of the iceberg.

Some nice person is trying to help me with Spotify, but it's too complicated even to explain to him what I'm having a problem with. Spotify reminds me of those programs everyone else loves that aren't iTunes, which I can't make play music files with any semblance of order. Yet, Spotify gives me access to a little bit of things I can't find elsewhere (I find the varying SQ on youtube its own source of annoyance).

I wonder where I got it. I've been saying it since at least the '80s. Does DC have its own lingo?

    Awww...

I use it to mean "weird" or "out of whack." In the case of Spotify, it's a little closer to "totally ****ed up."

I honestly thought maybe it was you showing off your cats. I used to wear specs like that before I got my eyes fixed.

So it seems that, at least for classical, Spotify is not worth the trouble.

Same for Pandora. It treats a movement as a separate "song."
Love it for other types of music, however.
