But both labels price their CD's higher than Naxos Historical, right? Those Naxos Historicals reconstructed/remastered by Ward Marston and MOT still offer tremendous values ...

They do and many of them are stuff that was previously only available on Pearl.

In other words, the original copyrights have expired?

I have many M&A discs in my collection, not one looks like that. I bet it's one of their early, 1980's-era discs.

I have only one that looks like that, it was made in 1992 (amazon lists the pink one I posted above as coming out in 1993):

I don't know, I just meant that a lot of Pearl stuff was only available on CD through them, then would later go OOP and be very hard to find and expensive. Plus, overall, I prefer the sound on Naxos (ones by Marston and MOT) to those on Pearl. Plus, with Pearl, you have to avoid all those bronzed titles. So it's win-win-win.

The Chopin Sonata No. 2 was very beautifully played by Natan Brand ...

Now playing CD1 from the following twofer for a first listen. Kathryn Stott has been the concert partner of Yo Yo Ma for many international tours ...

Jim, I hope you enjoy this CD. I took a look at the tracks and thought they were too modern for me.

I've never looked at this thread before, but I bought a Penderecki CD from Amazon a while back and I really like it. This is the one I have:

Can anyone recommend me any other titles like this? Dark, scary classical.

It has still been pretty tough. This was the first weekend in 10 1/2 years when Newton was not around ... :sigh:

My favorite Nocturnes is this one that was recommended by George a while back. This performance is amazing!
George may not always be right but He is when it comes to Piano...IMHO :D

(This is also a twofer BTW)

I have this twofer by Moravec, which is probably the best version of Chopin Nocturnes out there ...

Isn't this CD included in the following set? I bought the set last year, though not at a price as good as what you had paid for ...

I don't understand. There's no Ballades on those CDs.

You really know your piano CD's. I only vaguely remembered seeing this CD as part of the set and have listened to the set only ONCE ...
