Many of these Supraphon CD's have very similar covers ...

Ah, so you have one Ballades. I love them (only the Nocturnes I love more) and wouldn't be without all 4. I did a survey of many sets of the Ballades and Moravec came out on top.

Plus, as for your #4, it's a different performance than the one in the full set.

I mentioned in an edit above that the performance you have already is different than the one in the complete set of 4, so you won't be duplicating the performance if you pick it up.

I had to shift some things around myself. Luckily I still have about 8' of space (spread throughout my shelves.)

I ran out of shelf space a while ago and hundreds of CD's have to be temporarily housed in those shipping boxes from MDT and Presto for now until I have ordered a 1600-CD capacity spinning tower so I can move all my Bach CD's out of existing shelves to make room. I have more CD's for JS Bach and his family than CD's for any other composers ...

I have the original issue as well:

I always have problems with shelving CD's by the Anonymous 4 and S. Richter since most of their single CD's include more than one composers and I always group my CD's and LP's by composer ...

That's why I keep a separate section for Richter and some other artists. I put the Baroque, then Classical, then romantic, then modern, with multi-composer CDs at the end.

So VAI licensed some of these recordings to Supraphon?

Yes. And there is another performance of the preludes that is only on VAI.

I was lucky to pick up a copy last year. The performances aren't very different than the one's on Supraphon.

Like one of his teachers (Michelangeli), Moravec has a fairly small repertoire and a small discography. I wish he recorded a lot more. :sigh:

How is she with this repertoire?

That's one set that I do not have.

She is actually quite good and quite competitive with Maria Joao Pires IMO ...

OK, I was wondering if the 20% was already taken out. That's a damn good price for this set.

Pires was one that didn't grab me, as I thought she played these in a concert style, as opposed to a smaller scaled, salon style. Arrau remains my favorite for the Nocturnes.

Prices listed on the Qualiton website are still the regular prices.
