As mentioned earlier, Steven Stills had the true stereo masters. Atlantic retrieved them just a few years ago..

Great pics, Steve. Thank you for sharing them. There's just something about seeing those tape boxes. Very anxious to hear my favorite cut, "Lady Of The Island". The song paints such a beautiful picture. Lovely.

What an amazing opportunity it must have been to sit in on this! This is one of my favorite albums - the harmonies are just incredible.

In reading this thread, I had one question - how close is the music on the master to what we what we receive once Steve does his magic?

Read this thread. I believe that our finished disk will sound much better than the masters.

I think its safe to say that so far, this will be THE single most in demand AF title yet!

No doubt...hope that sales success allows more CSN from AF

Yeah, I recently talked to a forum member who still disputes this, saying that Graham Nash has 'em, and that Classic Records is the only company that used them.

Ya just can't win sometimes. :sigh:

I love these "Adventures In Mastering" threads. Think you could do some for other AF or DCC releases we may have missed or never got?

Well, WSP told us that they came from Stills not Nash. Does it matter? The CS&N gang had them, let's just say that. At any rate, we used them for our disk and Classic used them for their vinyl cutting. That's about it for use so far, I think. Maybe we'll use them again for our 78 RPM vinyl version..

Only if authorized by the record company. It's always their call, not mine.

Interesting info. Steve thanks for sharing it and for those in attendance who shared photos for sharing them. I look forward to this CD. :)

I'm just glad WSP, Sony, and Capitol have been generous about it so far.

It helps when the customer can know some of the details about what they are hearing so people don't bitch later. I like that you could restore, and explain the use of the restored parts of this album.

Just ordered my copy from Amazon--very reasonable $17.29 (no shipping fee and no sales tax for me as a Prime member) and will get it on Nov 15th.

Wow... I can't wait for this one especially after reading the comments. This is a personal favorite of mine so to hear it with the SH magic treatment will be such a treat! :righton:
