I thought that is Sonny Liston, not Ali.
    Bob Dylan is still around.

^^^^Are we all talking about the same thing? I think the OP is asking about the cardboard (in some cases wax) figures that were used in the photo, but it seems some of the responses are about the actual PEOPLE.

You're right- I'm asking if the cardboard cutouts themselves still survive anywhere not the status of the actual people. Sorry if I caused any confusion. :)

Probably not. Storing the cutouts against moisture, mildew, etc. would take a lot of effort.

All it takes is one nut to store one with, say, their John Lennon tooth. I wouldn't rule it out.

My guess is no. If they did, I would have thought one of them would have showed up at an auction (or museum) by now.

And if Peter Blake had any, he would certainly make it known...as he never passes up an opportunity to remind us he worked on that album cover. ;)

But who knows, some might reside in an attic somewhere, waiting to be re-discovered.

The cardboard of Marlene Dietrich sold in 2003 for $ 137,700. I guess it is rather unlikely the buyer will throw that one out ;)

And according to another forum on the net (C&P'd) :

Eight cardboard cutouts (Carl Gustav Jung, Shirley Jane Temple, Dion, Richard Marshall Merkin, Oliver Hardy, Aubrey Vincent Beardsley, Merilyn Monroe and Stan Laurel) are located on the wall of Orlando Hard Rock Cafe.

Tony Curtis's cardboard (signed) have Tom Fontaine :

Surely the wax Beatles figures were not destroyed!

I saw John's Pepper costume in the R&RHOF, Cleveland in 1998 or so. The glasses he was wearing when he was killed (obviously not the pair of 1966 granny specs on the lp cover) were on display there too.

How did these get to Orlando? Do we have anyone in Orlando that can verify this? I know there's Disney-tourist money, but really 8 of them? That had to cost a pretty penny.

I went to the Hard Rock Orlando site and searched their memorabilia. I don't see any cutouts there.

Maybe they move them from restaurant to restaurant. Something like that needs to be seen in more places than just Orlando.

I believe Hard Rock does move pieces from one location to another like PLanet Hollywood does.

Ahh, OK. I saw the cut-out of Oscar Wilde at the V&A in 2006.

Anyone remember that special It Was Twenty Years Ago Today from 1987. I've wondered how they made the Sgt Pepper video with all the cutouts moving. I'm guessing they made replicas? Or was digital technology advanced enough to do that by this time?

I just noticed that the wax bust of Diana Dors is slated to be auctioned this month by RR Auction. Here is the link to the auction preview page:

I can't say I'm entirely convinced this is the same wax bust, but it seems plausible I guess.
