Isn't the box set version the same mastering as the early disc? (re: Giant Steps)

    Thanks!

Just bought the 1990 disc with 12 tracks assuming that is the 'original Atlantic'...

If someone could post some EAC values from the original disc, I would like to compare them to the "Flashback" series on Reprise I just picked up which I suspect has the same mastering. THe face of the disc itself looks identical to that of the old WB/Reprise disc.

Steve, you have to realize that most of us respect your opinion because we like your work. Just go with the flow.

Yeah, there are a lot of references here that don't indicate whether the item mentioned is either an LP, CD, SACD, etc.

Continuing in this vein, post 2009 remasters, White Album Fatboy 1987 is favored though perhaps "not the best that could be." This preference for the 1987 fatboy seems to show up in every other Beatles thread, hope posting it here helps keep track of it as a reference. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/pulling-out-the-white-album-for-a-listen.234340/#post-6004165

There was a thread, something like "Be Honest Your Best Beatles CDs" or some other kind of nonsensical title that was deleted, then restored and then deleted again (too much misinformation) in which the following 1987 versions were still listened to (preferred?): AHDN, SPLHCB, MMT, White Album, LIB. The thread is gone though.

My memory is that he didn't say he preferred them, just that he still listened to them.

As is my memory but it was a while ago.
I also recall something along the lines of "2009s are decent as well" in the post, but that's even more vague of a memory.

Really, have you heard the Japan 48DP 1002-3? Having heard both I ever so slightly prefer it over the Mastersound. Definitely a weird recording to begin with.
