Who fans know the story of how Keith Moon may have inadvertently ran over his chauffeur accidentally killing him. Just found this website by the son of Moon's chauffeur that may shine some light on this mystery. Makes interesting reading:

I think Kim died in a car accident too, after running a stop sign. I guess the moral of the story is that Kim was a terrible driver?

I wonder what John Lennon thought of Keith Moon's driving.

Interesting to say the least. As most Who fans know, Moon was haunted by Boland's death for the rest of his life. According to Pamela Des Barres, Moon's girlfriend for three years, he had nightmares about the incident and would wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat saying he had no right to be alive.

    The book to get:

It's called 'Dear Boy' 'The Life Of Keith Moon' a brilliant well written book on Keith Moon.

It's the same book. 'Moon' was used as the book title for the North American market. I'm not sure why they thought 'Dear Boy' wasn't going to work. Perhaps it's too English?

Interesting. Never took notice of the author.

On the AbbeyRd Message board another picture of John Lennon and Paul McCartney in the 70's turned up and Keith Moon was in the foreground with his chauffeur at the time and Keith was looking the worst for wear. Someone on the board asked if that was the chauffeur who was killed and the op said no and posted the link to the website.

It probably doesn't include the first song on Rubber Soul.

The statement written by the eyewitness is confusingly written. He refers to the victim Neil Boland as "the driver" because he was Moon's chauffeur, even though he obviously was not driving at the time. Kim Moon was apparently driving.

Tony Fletcher is the author to look for.

Can you upload that picture? I know a couple have turned up lately, but I don't think I've seen that one.

On a related book note, the long out of print Full Moon by Peter “Dougal” Butler is available again.

Perhaps he was fearful that if he publicly trashed her, she would respond in kind and reveal the many instances of domestic violence she had suffered at his hands. Or perhaps he continued to have a misguided sense of wanting to protect her, even after the divorce.
