I bought it, didn't I? And yes I do care about technical specifications.

Don't see it on a quick scan. There is a Chrysalis article though.

Got mine yesterday. I had a coupon from Amazon so the whole deal only cost $16. Pretty cool looking and some fun info on there too. I was at one of the show in Madison, WI May 3, 1972!?!?!

In the future it would be cool if we could just buy the download and then get all the pic's and info downloaded too. Save trees, fuel, and a space(I just look at this stuff once and it's on to storage!)

The word down is messed (slight drop) up on the dts mix.

That "yeah" should not be missing from the original stereo flat transfer. That's wrong!

Something similar has happened to me a couple of times with AmazonUK - I pre-ordered an item very cheaply and got an e-mail from Amazon to the effect of 'there is delay with your order - would you like to cancel?'

Sneaky, isn't it? Getting you to cancel allows them to save face.

Both times I stood my ground. Both times I got the item (eventually).

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to make sure that it was a mix problem or defective disc before I took it back to my local store.

The next "down" (2:49) seems weird too.

Yes. The next "down" (2:49) seems weird too, so weird that it played OK on two out of four playbacks or I've lost it... Pioneer 563 in use.

    Look away...

Let's just say that the cymbals are too over the top on the surround sound mix. At about the 7 minute mark there's slight cymbal torture. The original flat transfer sound is suspiciously close to the 25th anniversary edition.

So, it sometimes sounds OK and sometimes not?

I've been having the sound problems on my SONY blu ray, Toshiba DVD and various laptops.

I have only listened to the flat transfer of the original two track master tape. I really liked it.

  17. I don't care much about a lossy surround mix but really enjoy a quality book or insert. Different strokes.

You are absolutely correct in your explanations of the glitches. I tried DD & DTS again and found the same problems.
;) The second down could fool the ear.

Did you find somewhat harsh cymbals on 'Aqualung'?
I rmember some forum members didn't like the mix because of that. There was even a poll or something. I really liked the mix

With Aqualung, Peter Mew was responsible for the final sound. This does not sit well with me. I don't see his name mentioned for TAAB, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was involved. I have a problem with the way the cymbals are overly pronounced on the surround mix. Otherwise there are some thrills&chills with the surround mix.

    cheers!

Both the stereo remix and flat transfer on the DVD sound really good. Well worth the $25 I paid thru Amazon. Keep the hi-rez coming! :)
