Love it and always have but I don't like the part where he sounds like he is singing through a megaphone. It kinda makes it a really good song from what could have been a all time song for me. Is it just me and just my problem?

    Very effective, in my opinion.

Oh, I thought this was going to be about the album, itself. :shh:

Speaking of which, is it me or does the 25th anniversary reissue (1996) suck in terms of its mastering? It sounds just dreadful and thats coming from a guy that, normally, isn't that picky about the sound of stuff.

/not an audiophile in other words

In terms of the song itself, I love it; just heard it too many times.

It is not just you. Do yourself a favor and get the new remix. It's the only in-print edition that's worth listening to IMO. :righton:

It doesn't bother me. That being said, I'm not really sure what the point of the "megaphone section" was. So in that regard, I don't think it was necessary and doesn't really do anything to enhance the song (IMHO).

  13. I agree with that one.

And to shokhead, are you familiar with the quadraphonic version, as heard for example on "M.U. The Best of Jethro Tull"? The "megaphone" section is different; too lazy to check now...

That's what we call "production values". Other cool ones were panning stuff back and forth, and making it sound like the tape was slowing down to a complete stop. In other words....awesome.

It doesn't bother me, kinda sounds like an old transistor radio or something. To each his/her own I suppose.

I like it because of the contrast when they switch back to the normal vocal.

Great album, good song...but the snot line is a gross-out, and frankly OP you're right, the microphone effect is a gross-out too.
