There are hardly any good musical guests on this show anymore (shame)

I thought Of Monsters and Men and Vampire Weekend were two of the better musical guests they have had in a long time.

Maybe so. I didn't see them. I just haven't been blown away by a performance on SNL in years the way I was by (for example) Neil Young in 89 or U2 in 2004 (off the top of my head)

Remember in the 90's, there seemed to be a great 'new' musical act every week or 2.

I thought Kanye's performance of Power on SNL was pretty mind blowing..

Funny, but you did condense three years to nine weeks there. How about the full list?

Lorne, throw us old farts a bone and bring Norm Macdonald back to do Weekend Update.

Ugh. Norm is firmly set in the lower tier of Weekend Update anchors. Kevin Nealon, Charles Rockett and Colin Quinn at least keep him from the absolute bottom of the pile.

Maybe Kanye shook things up this week! Why did Ben Affleck look like he was about to cry when he introduced Kanye?

Surround yourself with sycophants long enough and you reach the stage where you brandish ropes of gold around your neck and perform songs about being "the new slave."

    Good grief.

I only watched the Kanye part. Thought it was magnificent. Can't wait for the new record.

Oh man, that Hermans handbag skit was an absolute riot! Been a long time since I have laughed that hard at anything from that show. Vanessa was fantastic, as was the other girl. Overall one of the better shows from this season IMO. Update was a flop though.

That's now the third one Vanessa and Cecily have done as the former porn-stars trying to hock luxury goods. I've loved everyone. And they must have gotten some good feedback about the others, as they were both buried at the absolute end of the episodes they appeared in, but this time they moved the sketch up earlier. The stuff Vanessa does with her eyes through those sketches cracks me up.

The departure of two key players was handled just right. Ben couldn't stop laughing but if I were Ben Affleck I probably wouldn't be able to stop laughing either.

I liked Fred Armisen's pseudo 80's regroup tour skit. I guess he wrote his own departure tune? It was pretty authentic sounding, almost as if it was really written in the day.

What song did Kenye sample in his first song?

I see a new SNL movie! We need a movie that uncovers their backstory as well front loading possible scenarios for a sequel in case it is a hit.

En Vogue could have been a good guest. I don't remember if I ever saw them on SNL or if it was good.

Who were all the players on the stage? They buried Michael Penn in the back. I recognized Kim Gordon but not the brunette near Fred.

Steve Jones was there. He and Kim were the only two I recognized. Guess I need to brush up on my Sleater Kinney and Dinosaur JR stuff. I didn't know Michael Penn was even there until Affleck mentioned him in the send off.

Overall another forgettable episode. Liked Stefan. Don't really remember much else, to be honest.

    Haha...maybe it's just me...but I'm not seeing a problem with this lineup!

Yeah, it's probably just me! :)
