Larry Boden is now my favorite human being of all time.
This is a reminder to never judge people by the jobs they hold, or the size of their bank account, or their station in life.

 

What a wonderful human being and he is an example for everyone.

Hooray for Uncle Larry!

 

I wonder if Larry would know offhand which of MCA's mastering engineers from the '70's had previously worked at Columbia's Hollywood studios up to that place's closure in fall 1972. The hand-etching of that individual, if one saw the 45's cut by him (such as Cher's "Half-Breed" and "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd), was very distinctive.

I have a book he wrote in 1981 called Basic Disc Mastering - I'd heard about it years ago and couldn't find it, and called him on the phone about 20 years ago and he mailed me a copy, and wouldn't take a dime for it.

You think he could be a manager or even district manager there at least. He's probably brighter than anybody working there. It scares the hell out of me that I am 36 years old now and I could be "unhireable" within 15 years.

Sounds to me like Larry gets it. I, on the other hand, am still working on it.

 

Perfect summation. I never look down upon anyone's occupation, EVER. If you're working for a wage (or volunteering for that matter), you're alright in my book.

 

I see that his book is back in print as an expanded 2nd edition. Has anybody read it? It does look interesting.
