I seem to have become invisible again. Would someone MikeM isn't ignoring care to quote my post with the clip in it?

You don't understand what I am saying, yet Slane does and Oatsdad also agrees, John's voice is the clearer in the recording. Paul is also singing, but for most of the song it is John's voice that is the louder, clearer and easier to hear.

No, I do understand what you're saying, but you're wrong, you don't understand what I'M saying! Which is that PAUL is SOUNDING LIKE JOHN. What you THINK is John's voice 'cutting through', 'standing out' 'much louder' etc, etc, ISN'T, it's PAUL and John singing 'like John'. You CAN hear Paul's voice VERY clearly, but as you think it's John, you don't hear it as being Paul's voice. You only notice Paul when he slips a little and sounds less like John and more like Paul!

Yes, that is what I like about the song. It all sounds like John, with Paul's voice, as you say, only slipping in occasionally. I understand and agree that Paul is singing, I am not wrong about that. We are both emphasising different parts of the same point.

How can either of you know it's the other one who doesn't understand what you are saying? If it was you who didn't understand what they were saying, you would not realise, because they would be saying something different than what you understood them to be saying!

BY the way, before we move on. I dearly love the Capitol concoction of EIGHT DAYS A WEEK and I DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE PARTY. I also love the picture sleeve that it came with, both sides. Used to stare at that while the record was playing. Can someone find that sleeve for me and post?

Dudes, unless John Lennon cloned himself in 1964 by some secret process, it's JOHN and PAUL singing on EIGHT DAYS A WEEK and PARTY. Both voices are on the same track..

You are all wrong. It's Paul trying to imitate the way John imitates George, while John is trying to fool us all by singing as John imitating himself. (In the fade-in - for about .234 seconds - you can hear John trying to sound like Ringo switching between George and Paul).
I hope I've made myself clear.
At the same time, I am willing to admit that I could be totally losing it ................

I think Eight Days is absolutely brilliant. Just another song in a line of great UK album cuts that could have easily been singles. It cements for me how the Beatles were releasing insanely strong albums - and they were just getting started.

This is a GREAT thread! I've heard these songs hundreds of times, but the analysis and comments here actually make me want to hear them again! (UK mono mixes, of course! Except 'She's A Woman', which I prefer the reverb on!)

Can someone get me a cup of tea. I'm really parched.

Just thought I'd mention that Things We Said Today is my favourite Beatles song up to that point, and probably in my top 5 Beatles songs. That bit in the Anthology where they played the song over the footage of the Beatles "coming home" to Liverpool literally has me in tears.
