What's the most complained-about and returned DCC title?

Good question. Do you have a list of all of them? Might jog my memory.

Well, yeah. That's a tough list to read on an iPhone..

But I remembered. GZS-1085 Cattin' with Coltrane and Quinichette. "Strange noises throughout". Got about 10 of those. Those strange noises were Paul's fingers clacking on the keys.

You would think they would EXPECT strange noises on a Coltrane record!

Not a recording I'm familiar with. What's weird is you would think that, considering it's a rather expensive gold disc -- and jazz to boot --it would be a recording those people had heard before, so they would be familiar with those sounds. Maybe they'd never come through with such clarity before.

Well, Rudy Van Gelder's habit of shoving the microphone right up the noise of the player and then compressing it to hell didn't help. The bonus tracks at the end of the disk from Beltone Studio have none of that problem. Paul is decently miked.

Doesn't the 45 version of "Jet Airliner" have a different vocal take? (i.e. "funky kicks")?

Awkward but not as awkward as the "who the hell are you" in Who Are You.That was a very sloppy edit.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

He may have HATED editing songs, but, it worked quite well with "The Joker". The radio listeners didn't have the experience with the long cut, so it sounds perfect edited. Even after hearing the album length, the 45 edit still sounds nice and tight.

No, 'Collection of oldies' in 1966 and '62-66' in 1973 and '20 Greatest' in 1982 before 'Past Masters' in 1988.

Ah, yes, I had forgotten those (I don't own either, and I'm not sure if they're part of the official UK cannon of Beatles' albums), though I was really thinking of "new" offerings from the band and not what amounts to "Greatest Hits" collections back in the 1960s.

I had never heard the long version before listening to it online today. The single edit is indeed a good one - the song sounds weird with the repeated choruses as heard below:

Do you know what happened to the returned discs? Hopefully they were returned to the wild.

That's a real shame. Too bad record companies don't (maybe they can't?) remainder their used items like book publishers do.

Damn, now I feel even worse for returning Jethro Tull Original Masters. Sorry everyone. :(

"The songs are too long" is still my typical reaction to Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms" CD.
I hopelessly hope to see digital release of the LP/cassette version someday.
