So direct from the master tapes CTI jazz releases don't interest anyone on an audiophile forum???

Perhaps suffering from reissue overload :( I suppose it's all in the execution, but I would be interested in the Hubbard, "Red Clay" and Weston "Blue Moses." Price seems right.

Much of this has been posted in other threads. Granted, the discussions were about the e-Onkyo DSD releases.

I don't see a word about direct transfers from the master tapes and have no added EQ or Compression, unfortunately.
My guess we are getting another pressing of the previous releases on King Records, at lower price and on blu-spec CDs.

No...they are flat transfers...that has been confirmed by the Japanese King Records mastering engineer on a jazz specific message board.

Good to hear. But, since I already have all the "wanted" ones, I'll pass. Maybe I'd go for Good King Bad only.

These CTI remastered collections that come up, can't they ever add Kathy McCord's wonderful album!? I have most of CTI original CDs and vinyl, Kathy's vinyl is one of my faves out of the entire collection.

Thanks for the headsup, I hadn't heard about these. Ordered the Stone Flower.

And can be played on all CD players.

    Right.

I have three Sade Blu-Spec II discs, they sound great.

Good to know as I also ordered Jobim's Stone Flower.
I hope it is a flat transfer from the master tape as the OP stated.

Don't forget that these are also available as DSD downloads. If they were less expensive, I would buy one for comparison.

These releases were also talked about in the CTI CD Comparison thread, http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/cti-cd-comparisons.260160/page-2

But I'd like to hear your view points if you've hada chance to pic any up. I currently have 3, Beck, Power of Soul and Penny Arcade, and I have 21 more on the way. Stone Flower and Macho appear to be backorder at CDJapan.
I recommend Penny Arcade especially since the previous CD issue on Wounded Bird was terrible!

If I'm not mistaken, Kathy McCord owns her music from CTI like Bob James. She released it on a 2 CD album called New Jersey to Woodstock.

Thanks a bunch, I'll check that out.

I see disc one is what was put out on vinyl by CTI.

They had one left, so not sure if this will ship or not, we'll see. BTW, great sonics on the vinyl, if you ever come across it, grab it.

  23. Decided to order a few titles, and the first two arrived today. Jim Hall's Concierto and Bill Evans' Montreux II.

I compared the Jim Hall CD to my remastered (expanded) CD as well as the MFSL SACD.

Dynamic range is about the same for these releases.

Sound quality wise, this new 2013 Japanese remaster beats them all easily. Much smoother and warmer sound, much less bright. Great mastering and strongly recommended.
